What happened? Did I miss something interesting?

We're not entirely sure because the proceedings of these disciplinary hearings are confidential, but based on recent events:

>SA held a seminar-type thing on "Israeli aggression" a few weeks ago
>SA forced anyone who wanted to enter to sign a petition (which is against university and C&S statute) unilaterally condemning Israel
>5 Jewish students wanted to attend but refused to sign the petition
>These students were instantly profiled as "Zionists" (give or take some expletives) and barred entry by organising SA members (also against university and C&S statute)
>A person who witnessed this posted about this on Stalkerspace
>A complaint was made to C&S who called a disciplinary hearing for 4PM today
>End result was deregistration of SA at Clayton, reportedly barring them from reapplying for a period of a year

Which ultimately means that your SSAF isn't partially going to the SA. Wooooooooo!

^ Seconded. Some lectures download fine, others give me just audio + first frame of video.

With the much-appreciated help of b^3, I got it working for me!

1. Open VLC
2. Click on Tools on the top left bar
3. Select Preferences (you can skip step 2 and 3 by pressing ctrl+P)
4. Hit the Video option on the list at left
5. Select the drop-down box labelled "Output" and change it to 'OpenGL video output'
6. Open a downloaded lecture, it should work!

If it doesn't work, try the other video outputs (N.B. too see any effect, you need to reopen the lecture file with each output change or you won't see any difference).

Do Monash recruitment officers take SEAS applications seriously? Or is it merely a precautionary mechanism, which depends on luck and the element of surprise?

Nup  :'( :'(
It's not that pressing, and it's only one subject, but still. Echosystem's video system is like pulling teeth.

You tried every video output option? And you closed and relaunched the video file with every output change?

And hell yeah it's a pain! Our anatomy coordinator last semester floated for discussion the idea of live streaming and actually video-recording the lecturer speaking à la TED. I love it, it'd be a fantastic improvement on the current system.

Got it after fiddling around for another few minutes. Not that this will help anyone but myself, but: ctrl+p -> show all settings -> video -> untick "drop late frames"

Thanks owing to AN technical support for telling me to adjust preferences.

http://lotswife.com.au/2014/09/clubs-societies-extraordinary-general-meeting-called/

To be honest, this whole thing is a lot more exciting than it has any right to be.

Quote from: Lot's Wife
At the EGM, both the club and the C&S executive will have a chance to explain their actions and decisions to the C&S council, which is made up of representatives from each of Clayton’s 100+ clubs.

I mean, that's a lot of people.

I mean, that's a lot of people.

In the past it hasn't been particularly huge because i) Not every club sends a representative and ii) usually "representatives" is composed of the President and/or the VP, but given the magnitude of this whole situation I reckon it'll be a big deal and get a large turnout. I'm really hoping that club reps make the right decision by the university and the student body and uphold the deregistration ruling.

Most of the clubs are non-political. I think they wont give a crap about SALT. They'll either see them as annoying or just simply not care, or so i'm predicting. I dont reckon they'll make it unless they can hurry up and make a convincing case (i think their guilt in that antisemitic/discriminatory incident is clear too).

In other news, who is happy they opened up the path to Hargrave again? You dont have to go all the way around through engineering anymore! The bit they're still working on is actually turning out to look pretty nice. We also have a new vice chancellor as of a few days ago.
