How's everyone going so far? Week 7 of Semester 2 already, i've got to say, this has been my fastest semester yet. Maybe it's because arts is so much less contact hours and intensity compared to science, i barely remember doing anything this year, it's one huge blur. I feel like i've gotten almost nothing out of this year, so many regrets.
It's September now too, year is almost over, that's crazy.
I'm currently sitting in the library pseudo working on an essay, and it occurred to me, as I scanned the room, that I absolutely no idea what assignments are like in faculties other than Arts. That displeases me.
So my question is: what assignment is everybody's most pressing one at this time? For example, I am working on a research essay on the media portrayal of Buddhist transsexuals in Thailand.
Generally it's not much different to arts essays, in that the major assessment usually is an essay style thing along with your exam (in many of the science units i've taken but about 30-40% its lab work + various mini tests).
In the past i've looked at new and improved treatments for clotting (the current best one is rat poison) you have to show how it works, why it's effective and of course back it up with a healthy amount of evidence. Other things like in first year biology where i wrote about the genetics of skin colour (same basic deal - how? why? what?).
Library fines of $40.. great -.-
Is there any way I can get out of paying this ? Any way at all ? Please help !
In years gone by fines under $25 (or was it $50) were wiped at the end of the year. Now, any debt you incur will stick with you.
This is a different point from the above but there's a certain fine amount where they might cut out access to things like WES, etc if you don't pay. It happened to my mate with like $30 but i had like $55 and it didn't do anything. If you're fine now you'll probably remain to be fine.
You won't be able to borrow any books with a fine that huge unless you pay it off though. It's no big deal if you can just read and work in the library but otherwise you will need to bite the bullet and pay it off some time (particularly if you need books for Essays, arts this is you). If you're in science you can probably get away with carrying the debt until you graduate if you're lucky (but you will need to pay it to graduate).
