Confused? Chain rule:

Both of your questions are just applications of the chain rule. Hope this helps!

I think you mean differentiate?

Hint: Use the chain rule.
Spoiler

The second can be done similarily.

Edit: Beaten.

It's a double angle formula, you don't need to know it for Methods (you use it a fair bit in Specialist though).

I don't think you can undefine it, but you can just define h(x) for something else and the previous one will be deleted.

I need help with two questions:

1)Find the equation of the quadratic curve, given that f(0) = 0 and f(4) = 0 and f ′(0) = -1.

2) Find the derivative of y=

1)Find the equation of the quadratic curve, given that f(0) = 0 and f(4) = 0 and f ′(0) = -1.

2) Find the derivative of y=

Thanks!
1) let y=ax^2 + bx + c be the function you want to find
f(0) = 0 means c=0
f(4) = 0 means 14a + 4b = 0
f ' (x) = 2ax + b (treats a,b as a constant)
f ' (0) = -1 means 2a(0) + b = -1 -> b=-1
You can do the rest from here, just sub in the value of b to find a.
b) you can re-write this equation as
y= ln (x+1) - ln (x-2)
dy/dx= 1/ (x+1) - 1/(x-2)
