It gives me great pleasure to announce that we recently inked a sponsorship deal with ASX200 firm Talent2, and their training program provider Upskill.

What is Upskill?
Upskill is a provider of job skills education. They are a subsidiary of the international HR consulting firm Talent2, an industry leader in employment education.

What are the courses? How do they work?
Upskill provides training for certificates in Business, Business Administration,  and for the Diploma of Management.

These courses were identified by the Victorian government as a sound investment in the Victorian workforce in order to produce a more efficient and capable set of workers for the market.

They require on average 50-60 hours of time over (up to) 10 months to complete. The best part is, they're all online so you don't even have to leave your computer chair! You learn on a case-related basis different skills for different job situations. There are units with coursework that you complete, and after you complete all the units you have finished the certificate and are accredited. Furthermore you will have access to the learning materials once the course is finished as well for future reference.

How will the courses help me?
These are all qualifications which enhance employment skills, making you more efficient at a job you may currently hold, or more appealing to prospective employers. The courses contain several modules which are highly applicable to the workplace, and are skills which prospective employers often look for when recruiting.

This will look great on your resume. It’s a tertiary qualification that you can put on your resume before you’ve even started university!

The workforce is becoming more and more competitive, and these are certificates which will certainly give you an edge over other job applicants. These programs are rated so highly that Chartered Accountants and the Law Institute of Victoria recommend the Upskill courses to all of its members in order to increase their job skills.

How much will it cost me?

Nothing! The courses are funded by the Victorian government and the scholarships that Upskill is providing to students to cover the remaining costs not funded by government.

How does this help ATAR Notes?
For every student we refer to Upskill, ATAR Notes will receive money for your enrollment. There is literally nothing for you to lose by doing this. You’ll be learning better job skills, you’ll receive a proper accreditation certificate which will significantly boost your resume, and you’ll be helping out ATAR Notes all at the same time!

Do I have to complete the courses in any particular order?
The ideal course of progression is from Cert III in Business to Cert IV in Business Administration, to the Diploma of Management. You may skip the Cert III in Business if you wish to do so, though it is highly recommended as you will gain an additional qualification with additional modules. You must complete the Cert IV in Business Administration prior to completing the Diploma of Management.

Please note:
The Diploma of Management is quite a prestigious degree/qualification, and therefore it is generally made available to those who are in a supervisory roles in their workplace, therefore if you currently do not have a job, it is ideal for you to take the Cert III in Business followed by the Cert IV in Business Administration. The application process for the Diploma of Management may also be subject to an additional interview. If you have any questions as to what constitutes a 'supervisory role' just ask.

Do not enrol in the Cert IV or Diploma if you are currently in the application process for the Monash University MBBS.

Is there any relevance to VCE?
Some of the modules in the Cert III in Business and Cert IV in Business Administration are highly relevant to those present in the VCE VET Business subject, and you can use this knowledge as a method of preparation for this subject.

Can I get any help with the course?
Whilst everything is online, you are allowed free access to a tutor for the course to email, call, or even meet up with in person to get help with going through the course.

Alternatively, I've created a section here for you guys to ask each other questions if needed.
Post all UpSkill course related questions here!

Is there a catch?
There is no catch, however you must be informed that the scholarship that Upskill awards applies if and only if you complete the first two units of the course in the first month (roughly 2-4 hours of work), and you must then go on to complete the course as per your training plan (50-60 hours over up to 10 months). If you cannot fulfill these requirements, you will be charged a one-time fee of $187.50 for the course, which is the value of the scholarship provided by Upskill.

How do I sign up?

Visit this link and fill in your details to check whether you are eligible and someone from UpSkill will get back to you - http://upskillonline.com.au/s/atar

At this stage, we are only taking expressions of interest. Enrolments will not re-open until early January, and may be subject to some changes. If you are interested, fill in your details on the accompanying link

Would this be manageable with no business background knowledge whatsoever? (never done any business unit nor a subject in vce/highschool)

Nonetheless, this opportunity will be massive to our community, nice job taiga!

Yeah I had zero business background at the start of this year and completed the Cert IV in Business Administration without any major issue. It's mainly focussed on skills that you'd apply in a workplace rather than a theoretical understanding of Business' so it can pretty much be done by anyone.

Also thanks, it's a pretty massive deal that we've managed to secure, so we're looking forward to getting people signed up to have something to add to their CV's during the holidays. If there are enough people on board we'd be happy to make an area for you guys to discuss it as well (though the course content is not that difficult so you should manage :) )

I just finished Year 12 and going to Uni.

In "What is the highest level of qualifications you have completed?*", do I put 'Currently Studying' or 'High School'?

Signed up.
What a great opportunity, and a great time to start.

Do you think the cert IV in bus admin can be completed before Uni starts again?

Your highest qualification would be high school. Most of you will be eligible unless you have completed a Cert IV in Retail or something through work (in which case you would only be eligible for a diploma), or if you have completed a Bachelors degree (no eligibility).

If you are currently in the middle of studying, you're completely free to sign up though.

This is ideal for year 12s that finished school, or uni students on their break. I personally slammed out the course within a few days (very high intensity), but I'm more than happy to organize a subforum for this where you guys can chat to each other about questions, which will make them easily completable.

You would be able to complete the Cert III AND Cert IV (have not done the Dip. Man, so can not speak) extremely comfortably prior to uni starting.

Most of you should be eligible for the scholarship. Sign up for it, and a rep from there will get back to you very soon about it. If they don't, just PM me and I'll try and accelerate it through.

And yeah it's definitely an amazing opportunity, I've been working on getting this for dozens of hours over the last few weeks, having a bunch of meetings and phone calls, but it feels good to have it up and running :)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

Being the in process of doing a CertIV in Financial Services i can also testify that the course is not too demanding, reasonably useful, looks pretty damn good on a CV, plus it's free! Definitely recommended :)

To answer a PM.

This can be done in year 11, even in year 9 or 10, you just need to be ABOVE 15 years old :)

Awesome! I signed up. Is it possible to do the diploma without first completing the certificates? Or do the cert IV in business admin without having first completed the cert III in business?

You CAN do the Cert IV without having done the CertIII, but you CANNOT go straight into doing the diploma, you are however available to get funding to do two programs i believe, e.g. i plan to do the diploma after i finish my CertIV and it's my understanding that it will be funded
