lol too much real life here, facebook has superior and inferior socialists. The Superior socialists can be viewed as Narcissitic, they to love themselves so much they are willing to put in over 200 photos of themselves in facebook, whilst the inferior socialist will check more of what the Superior socialist have of what they don't have, numbers of friends, updates/wall, photos of 'going out to places' and more friends which would make the inferiors feel more miserable. The Inferior Socialist are known as being entirely opposite and opposed to have the Superior Socialist have in facebook.

We should make a thread on "facebook Narcissism", it'd be a really interesting topic to discuss on.

But anyways

Facebook=popularity contest.
This is partially true, the part about 'inferior socialists' is quite right, but I don't think you have the 'superior socialists' part correct. It's not simply only for these people to show off, but also a way to share their experiences with friends. This kind of sharing is typically reciprocated, so most likely the targeted audience is other 'superior socialists' in their friendship group.

Facebook does make social interactions easier, considering no one can see all of their friends all the time. It is not a substitute for real-life interacitons, but it complements it. Whether or not facebook is healthy really depends on who your friends are, it essentially comes down to "do my friends use facebook the same way I do?".

I think theres a factor that makes facebook 'miserable'.

You know guys how you just add someone you know from 'school', 'uni', 'work' or 'somebody you possibly know off'.

-you add the 'person'
-they would ask 'whos this' on your wall' eventhough they really know you -.-.
-they could've just personal message or inbox you

from there i guess that 'person' who said 'whos this' as like the mind of that 'person':"look guys this person added me, im popular", and that 'person' wants to be known that he/she gets a lot of adds (lol). Somewhat, i just find it oddly annoying lol.

Does anyone get this feeling about that? and my conception on it?

Irritably feeling 'miserable'.

I sometimes get this feeling, there was this one person who DID know me but sort've acted as if he didn't and never approved my friends request, what disappointment.

+1 lol, too much real life.

sometimes i would get in my newsfeed of some 'ripped facebook kids' posting themselves half naked in the bathroom lol, that doesn't really annoy me much though besides 'abs on a skinny boy, is like a fat chick with big tits', if you guys know what i mean.

Also they are a few attention whores that are willing to put their half naked bodies on Fb, just to get the attention from guys lol.

I [stupidly] got fb about a month or two prior to the english exam, I don't feel "miserable". I have no friends on my side of town (they are east and north and I am far west), and I find it helps me keep in touch because talking-face-to-face always means a 45+min train trip to the city (or more to go to their houses).

I think as long as you use it in moderation, it won't be a disadvantage to social life.

Yeh same here, I made it to keep in touch with friends after school as I probably won't be seeing them as much. Although making it a week before the english exam was a pretty bad idea for me.

Also nice post count pi (4444)

PALO ALTO, CA –Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March of 2012. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th of next year, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts.

I am a bit sceptical that it will happen though.
