Haha...tbh, I am talking about the GAMMA mark :p.  That was a nice unexpected surprise. ...and honestly, just in case you were thinking of it, don't do stats...it is that bad!  It is probably one of the easiest subects that you can do...but, it is taught so badly that it seems like the worst subject you could ever do.  Over 10% of biomeds fail it in first year!

Tbh, I didn't even deserve that mark.  I did barely any work throughout semester.  I learnt the last chapter a couple of days before the exam, and then just spammed 7 past papers.  Half the multi choice on our exam were directly copied from our semester quizes, so that was 20 free marks on the exam.  Then the short answer questions were so easy that you could do some of them with just methods 3/4 knowledge, and some of the other short answer questions had been ripped off from our course planner or past exams as well.  Add this to the fact that there are 120 marks available on the exam, but it is only marked out of 100, and it is not exactly hard to do well.  You can screw up 20 marks or not even attempt them without it affecting your exam score.

Once you decipher how to read the formula sheet, which is like learning to read hieroglyphics, you really can't go wrong though...

OK. You aced a subject that 10% of the smartest kids in the state doing biomed fail, without any study whatsoever and hating it. Just trying to make sense of this in my head :P

^Haha.  It is a tolerance of the things which you hate that gets you through life.  So many people this year said "I hate it, therefore I'm not going to try."  I get where they are coming from, but honestly, that is just life.  You can't and almost never won't get things the way you want them...

Nah, I just want to be consistent with all my subjects.  I'm sure i'll learn a lesson from you when you rack up another 4 or 5 50s this Friday. :)

Fair enough.  All that matters is that you get into MBBS anyway. :)  And I'm still pretty certain you're a shoe in for 99.95, or at least 99.90.

Edit:  Actually, I really want you to get 50 in EngLang.  Show those MacRob girls who's boss haha. :p

With regards to repeating VCE when one receives a sub par score:

http://www.manningrivertimes.com.au/news/local/news/general/doctorate-student-and-medal-recipient-failed-his-hsc/2392551.aspx

Awesome story.  I love it when people manage to turn it around!  He would have really benefited from doing Year 11/12 in an adult learning environment, similar to what I did.  It is that much less of a distraction.

Wut?

My friend who was 16 for year 12 also completed his degree in 2 years, and is doing medicine next year. So he'll only be 19 for post grad.

This isn't suuuper rare (okay the 2 year BSc thing is because you're crazy), I know at least one other 19 year old in the MD next year

I take it he didn't do his degree in 2 years...which means he was 2 years younger in high school? o_O

edit: actually there are 3 of us from my school that are doing what I'm doing, bachelor 2 years then MD next. One of them did commerce though, and I'm not sure about the 3rd.

They absolutely dominate!  It would be nice to see other people get 50 in this subject.  It was all tongue in cheek anyway...

For anyone who was actually interested, my cousins ATAR boosted up from 69 point something (last year) to 84.6 (this year) and she got into teaching! So it was worth it for her :D

He was right about spesh... I think we've learnt from thushan's UMAT and ATAR predictions that he is not to be trusted in this department (which I think is better than over-predicting btw).
