SteelSeries Siberia v2, been using it for more than a year and I gotta say it's the best headphone I've used so far. I can wear it for hours and still feel comfortable.

I recommend staying away from any PC-accessories people. The quality of their stuff cannot compare to head-phone professionals.

@burbs, How much bass do you require?

What sort of music will you use it for and do you want an open or closed back?
It's really not that hard to quantify..., but I believe that being raped once is not as bad as being raped five times, even if the one rape was by a gang of people.

Paying for a brand name, but they are good. Just more than you should pay.

I listen to Alternative/Indie Rock etc.

I have Sennheiser HD 418 headphones which I enjoy a lot. I bought them on sale through dick smith for ~$70

Sennheiser is a good brand and for many price ranges their headphones will be the best (not always)

yep.. sennheiser is good, the HD series seem to be rather cheap ay. i got the HD 218 merely based on their size. i didnt want something too bulky, but at the same time, good, especially bass wise!

If you go to FactorySound in melbourne, you will find a huge range there:)

Grado's are probably the go to ones though I should warn that everyone in a 5m vicinity will you hear your music and you of them.

For a portable, closed one. The Audio Technica range is pretty good. ES-7 appears to be a highly recommended one. Though I think AT is pretty bass light. Shure's SRH440 seems to be another recommended one. Can't say I've tried them all but these are pretty trustworthy brands. There's also AKG but they tend to do pricier phones

I personally own the Shure 440s and i LOVE THEM.

I'm not really an 'audiophile' - as long as they aren't apple earphones than I probably wouldn't mind too much.

Everything sounds nice and balanced and I play Starcraft 2 with them ^^ (Not that it matters, haha)

$105? at Headphonic. One thing that I don't really like is the coiled cable that it comes with, but you can order a straight one from ebay for ~$30. I'll probably get one after christmas.
