Hey just wondering if it's essential to have a timetable for your VCE study(yr11,yr12)?
If yes, how could I possibly make n effective one or do you guys just study whenever you feel like?
Help pls :)

IMO, no, otherwise you might pressure yourself to work when you shouldn't be (i.e. stressed, tired) and the studying you are doing won't be effective.

I make timetables all the time to procrastinate and make myself feel better.

I never follow them though.

It's really up to the individual.  I found writing down a list of tasks to be completed, along with the rough amount of time which each task would need helped me motivate myself into actually getting things done.  I know some people who are (for godknowswhatreason) also VERY efficient when they have a timetable telling them when they'll do what.  Then there are some people who just do better by making spur-of-the-moment decisions (ie. procrastination).  Just see what works for you.

I had a timetable. It was very helpful. I made it about 5 weeks into the year and it literally stopped all the "I should be studying now" guilt that came when I was having my downtime. In scheduling both study and free time, I never felt guilty when I was on a break.

Also, I gave myself one free day a week to use when I chose. This made study so much easier as it meant that I had a short term goal each week to study for. I would "save" up my free days and have a rather light week every two months. It was really good. That being said, come exam times, there was definitely not even a thought of a break.

Depends on the individual. I never used a timetable.
I attempted to plan what I would study for the following week first 2 weeks of year 12 but I just gave up and never used my diary again.

Wow so true. At the start of the year I planned to do a practice exam for one subject every weekend. In the end, only managed 2 practice essays for english in total! (though rereading ransom and making a massive mindmap and spending 2 hours planning a few essay topics 5 days before the exam helped A LOT!)

Ive tried using a timetable but can never stick to it :( so i just write what i have to do in my school diary each day and make sure i get that set work done on the day, but i do it when i feel like it. If u are going to use a timetable jus make sure u dont plan to do too much as it would giv u unnecessary stress and demotivate u if u cant get it all done.

I made a timetable about 2 months before end of year exams... it was colour coded and everything... :)

I allocated days for doing 20 english practice essays. I did 1.

Needless to say, I found timetables to be useless.

As a countless number of people have said, it really does depend on the individual, however, i find they are very effective. You should perhaps create one to see if it works out for you, if not, you can always discard it.

Lol, so should I just jot down what's needed to do instead of just making up a timetable for weekly(coz it takes me like 5hrs to do one, lol:) )
