Pharmacy at Monash 2012?

Hey,
Could you guys(either current or past students) give me an indication of whether I'll have a chance of getting into Pharmacy at Monash, with an ATAR of 98.35 and UMAT 149? (I know they said to aim for 160 so I'm worried about my UMAT score...) I also have a SEAS application (and received an offer for the Vice Chancellor's Access Monash Scholars Program). This program mentioned that as long as I have obtained the minimum requirements then I could be guaranteed a place into my course of choice at Monash, but I'm really not sure if this is the case.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! :)

enter of 95.xx and umat of 48 overall so im guessing that was like 145ish and i got into pharm/comm. i hated it lols. u will defo get into pharmacy with ur atar alone and seas will only just increase ur chances expotentially. i am a bit biased, but before u lock in pharmacy as the course you want i strongly advise working in a retail pharmacy during the hols.
i was in pharmacy/comm and then transferred to straight comm.

alot of students got in with just 92,93's for pharmacy single degree and umat scores were not that great.

mystikal, thanks for your input! I've called them a couple of times and they haven't really given me a straight answer. So this kind of helped cleared some things up for me. So far from what I've read about the course it seems interesting enough. How come you didn't like it? I also know about the job prospect becoming worse lately... Is that one of the factors?
As for a work placement, I've actually done a work experience placement already at a retail pharmacy but I really didn't get to see the pharm aspect of it. It was mainly focused on retail (I guess I didn't have the necessary training to be allowed in the dispensary.)

the job prospects was one aspect, another was the fact that i cudnt see myself working in retail for the rest of my life. only up to 5 years max probably. anyways the pharm aspect of pharm isnt really that great... its very monotonous which isnt the best thing.. all you do is type up the prescription thats it and webster pack (which is just as boring). The only thing that changes is the customers but even then it gets close to repetition. I still recommend getting a retail job in a pharmacy in the summer coz getting a job early anyways because all your other pharmacy buddies will be looking for one when they start uni so getting a job wud be only beneficial. i rkn go have a talk with some of the pharmacists locally and ask them for advice as well during non peak hours tho.

haha any1 is allowed in the dispensary and also a monkey can do what a pharmacist does no kidding thats how easy/monotonous it is to do/learn.

anyways but, if you get a pharmacy a job at a hospital or industrial then it might be more worth it since actually have more clinical based, plus we actually use the knowledge you gain from university. but in retail you probably wudnt even use half of it.
