Me!  ;)

I'm already in :P Congrats, me!
Me too....thanks Access Melb and epic Spesh scaling boosting ATAR :)
yay! Btw, you can actually call Access Melbourne and ask if  you 100% qualified for the selection guarantee.

you mean meeting the min atar, min subject SS and rural status????

Guys, relax, get a life man. It's the holidays after VCE, don't even think of GAMSAT study at this stage.

And Access Melbourne can tell you over the phone whether or not your SEAS was approved and whether you qualified for their selection guarantee whereby if meet pre-reqs and 92 you are in.
Yeah I meet the pre-reqs, my atar is over 95 and I'm pretty sure my SEAS was approved

Lol I don't mean start studying now.....i'm having too good of a time to start any form of work atm :D!! I'm referring to next year during our biomed degree....anyone up for it (study group)??

Hm well you didn't sound THAT comfortable doing it even with 2 50s in Chem and Bio. I've only done bio 1/2 as well and physics will be completely foreign to me. Will give it a shot nevertheless :P

Up to you, but if you call and ask if I'm in after telling you your ATAR+pre-reqs, you'll know for 100%.

I don't thikn you need to know much bio, a lot of it is just interpreting diagrams and flow charts. I didn't do vce bio NOR semester 1 bio. I did semester 2, which focused more on genetics and evolution, which didn't help much anyway. I just did some past questions and it ended up being ok.

@stonecold Can I ask what you got in the gamsat? And if you're going to attempt it again.

Yeah, almost certain will do again but...

Section 1: 56
Section 2: 64
Section 3: 83
Overall: 71 (97th percentile)

Melb weighting brings it down to 68 (94th percentile) which is why I am going to have to do it again dammit.

And yeah, you are 100% right.  I wouldn't waste more than a day or two just refreshing on bio
The only things you need to know  the basics of are
-Cardiac cycle
-Cell cycle
-DNA replication
-Signalling pathways
-Genetics problem solving
-X inactivation
-Osmosis
-Interpreting experimental results
-Oxygen binding curves.

The rest was just random shiz which you could never study for.  Focus on chem and essays IMO...

Should the unthinkable happen and you're not approved, I'd start looking towards the appeals process. (Just in case)

With regards to essays, my friend who got like 47 in english, did worse than me in the essay section (I got 43), and I did worse than some of his fob chinese friends, who had pretty fob english...point is said friend came and told me he had no idea what to write about, so even though his stuff sounded nice and fancy, I believe they look more for ideas than actual english. I hadn't written an essay until the night before GAMSAT, when I wrote a few just to get used to writing. When writing, my english was probably very simple, but I like to believe I had some pretty good ideas in my two pieces. I was probably in the minority too when my second essay was about why money CAN buy happiness :D

Also, nice scores but yeah, I would do it again too. 68 is already very good but no one wants to miss out by just a little bit.

I think semester 1 is enough, much of the information is given to you anyway.
Anybody want to create a GAMSAT study group for Biomed students???

LOLL,  we were adamant that we were gonna do this at the start of the year.  Unfortunately, it never eventuated. :p

@dc  Yeah, with good GPA I can't see it being too much of a problem, but might as well get the very best I can seeing as they will be ranking us on it.

And also, I wrote a prac essay on why money can buy happiness!  It totally does.  Take away all of someones stuff and see how happy they are!  But nah, you always argue to an extent, and then contrast it with a counterpoint such as starving African villages who are poverty stricken, and yet they manage to get by, have strong family ties and get enjoyment from their rich culture etc.

I am planning on doing Melb Biomed next year, I'll be gutted if I don't make the cut :S. I'm hoping 98.25 ATAR and KLD will suffice...

Anyway, definitely gonna sit GAMSATUK later this year. looking forward to it actually =D

Hmm I still can't decide between this and science :(

EDIT:

Ok I know I want to do science, but a part of me keeps telling me to do Biomedicine even though I hardly any advantages in it whatsoever apart from a from a potential, unwarranted feeling of superiority over the Science kids :(

What makes you think it's unwarranted?!

And anyone planning for GAMSAT now is crazy.

Lol russ hahahahh

When our whole lives we are told to use 'xxx and I' instead of 'me and xxx'... for once this is actually incorrect grammar.

It's 'be cool like me and dc302'. :P Sorry for off topic haha.

But yes be cool like us :D
