HELLPP Parents again...

Alright, so here's the deal. Because of recent petrol prices, my wonderful and creative parents came up with this new idea which is the smartest thing to do in their mind. We have one petrol price discount receipt, and 2 cars. So, their idea is to line both cars one after the other, then pump petrol into both cars before paying in a single receipt, thus obtaining the discount for both cars.

Had they not need someone to hold the pump and 2 person to drive the cars, they would had done it a long time ago. So now, they're trying to convince me to hold the pump while they drive the cars...

The thing is, we're not struggling financially or anything, and I don't see the point of doing this to save like er 4 cents for one car of 40 litres which totals to $1.60 However, my parents are set on doing this and are nagging me to assist in their *grand plan*....

Is it just me or this feels a little awkward or even uncivilised? Sry if I'm being pedantic about this... If that is the case, just let me know and I'll go ahead with it...

Pretty sure this is illegal, but not unheard of (I've seen it happen before)

Soon enough they'll make you graze around on nuts, vegetables and fruits at Safeway without paying for them as your 3 meals.

The funny (or bad) thing about this is that they don't see anything wrong with it  :-\  I think I'll just drive a car out now and get it filled up... problem solved

Assuming you have one of those discount coupons:

Quote from: Woolworths
5.  You may only redeem one fuel saving offer per transaction, per vehicle, for a fuel purchase of up to 150 litres.

So yeah, its illegal if you do. Sorry about that :(

Mate, there is nothing wrong with this at all. I think if you read the terms and coniditions on your little docket thing, it'll say "maximum of x litres" so heh, I doubt it's illegal.

In terms of embarrassment, I'm assuming you have Asian parents so I'm surprised you're not used to all this cheapness shennanigans. I've witnessed my Dad taking toilet paper from Maccas because he couldn't be fucked going to the Glen to buy more rolls.

EDIT: Dw, you can't do it but who is gonna stop ya? Just like how in Subway you're only allowed 2 refills per cup. Yeah good one.

Save ~$1-$2, get fined ~$100-$200.

ratio of 1:100

Seems reasonable to go ahead with it...

You should just give your parents the $1.60 yourself, save some trouble.

Does fuel cost 1.60 in the city now, I'm on 1.46 a litre.
I suggest taking advantage of the gas rebate, get it swapped over.
Or alternatively, split your groceries into two piles when shopping with each parent to both get discount vouchers. :P

I must say though, your parents seem pretty dodgy with this, but if they force you into it, you may as well as wear a cool supervillian costume.
‎"We divert our attention from disease and death as much as we can; and the slaughter-houses and indecencies without end on which our life is founded are huddled out of sight and never mentioned, so that the world we recognize officially in literature and in society is a poetic fiction far handsomer and cleaner and better than the world that really is."
