From the VCAA website.

I heard that the Pilot exams were very easy exams that were used when the new course (at that time) came out.  Is that true?

Hmm...I won't comment on that because I haven't done it yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.

Then again, lokoing at the examiners comments, the 'concerns' area sounds very similar to the years that follow.
