Who got the invitation to govenment house?
« on: December 28, 2011, 05:28:34 pm »
So I got an invitation, well not even an invitation, rather a notification stating that I may get invited to government house. Who else got this? what does it mean?

with those raw scores I'm gonna say perhaps Australian Student Prize?

Yup, I got an invite too. :D
But I suspect that yes, it's for the Australian Student Prize.

Yeh I got one too, it's a bit strange how it says 'may.'

I got one... been trying to work it out.

I think this is because it's not an invite, the VCAA cannot invite us to Government House, hence the letter we got is simply telling us why the Governor will soon be inviting us (while being very careful not to invite, and hence saying 'may').

So I got an invitation, well not even an invitation, rather a notification stating that I may get invited to government house. Who else got this? what does it mean?

I don't think so, that has little to do with the state Governor, instead it appears to be about "Federal Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations" -  http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/excellenceawards/australianstudentprize.html

You sure it's not premier's award?

Could be premiers - I was the only national politics 50 and one of four for international studies. So that would make sense, does everyone with an invite have a 50?

From the Governor, not premier, it may mean we will be getting premier's awards but I think that's separate.

Did you get one of the invites Paul?

does everyone with an invite have a 50?

This is a good question.

No, I didn't get one, which seems to suggest a premier's award, because so far, the only ones who have gotten it seem to be people with 50's (possible premier's)

I know Student Prize is supposedly on raw scores, so wouldn't be surprised if I don't get one, but I'd be surprised if you didn't paul...

Our raw scores aren't too different though, it's only really methods where I'm a lot higher, the others really cancel out I guess

I'm pretty sure it's not premier's though, cause I was just thinking about it and that's released next year, in April or something like that, same with the Australian Student Prize, so maybe it's just like for a photo or something :P

I'm not going to lie, if it's a photo I will be a little aggravated given the fact they wasted my time with giving me an invitation without an invite.

I thought they gave out awards for the top 500 or something? am I wrong? or is that the Australian student's prize.
