Mazda 3 or Mitsubishi Lancer

I need your help peeps. I dont know which one to get. Both brand new, most likely 2012 versions and with a similar price at around 23,000 including features. I'd probably end up getting the same features as well, like bluetooth, hopefully tint and all that other stuff. I dont really want those reverse camera sensor stuff but both Mazda and Mitsubishi offer them, I'm already a bad enough driver as it is, after getting my P's so I dont want to rely on technology too much.
Both have 2L engines, but the 3 is slightly more fuel efficient, but only by like .2 of a litre. The Lancer is like 8.3 to the 3's 8.1 or something.
The Lancer is a tad more powerful its like 110kw to the 3's 108 or something. But apparently the 3 has better handling than the Lancer
Oh and both in sedans. I'm not too much of a fan of the hatchback

I really dont know what to get. I'm really stuck. I like both.  :S

Oh and I'm a bit of a fag and I havent driven either, but I do plan on doing that eventually. So that might help me make up my mind.
Also the bro wants me to get a white Lancer, not because its cheaper, but because it looks nice. Screw that I want a Black one. I want a black car full stop.

Lancer is shit except the evos, their engine is one of the worst in that price range. M3 hatchback sports in red looks amazing but sedan is pretty damn good as well.

I had the same dilemna, but ended up with a Mazda 3 and I love her :)

Just better quality both for the mechanical and interior, cheaper servicing and decent fuel economy.

The Mazda 3 is really, really popular right now. The Lancer is just downright ugly without the Evo flares and parts.

But I don't prefer either, I just don't like either of them. How can people like the huge front bumper air intake on the 3? It just ruins everything about the car.

I'd prefer a Civic, they''re much more aggressive in looks. But then again, I have no interest for new cars, <2000's baby!

I wish I was even in the price range for an Evo. As if my dads gonna fork out like 70 grand. Although someone told me that I seem like the type to drive an Evo, coz I'm all HK like that LMAO

My friend chose the 3 over a Toyota Yaris, purely because the 3 has the semi-automatic trip computer stuff, but she says thats pretty crap and its not that great. The semi-automatic part (and the fact that the dealer at Mazda gets my sympathy vote) is what keeps me still liking the 3, to be honest. But I'll have to drive the 3 and see how it is.

Yeah, looking back, I dont think the Lancer looks that great either. Although aforementioned friend is telling me to push a spoiler somewhere into the deal. It would look better then.

But I do want a somewhat powerful car. Lancer seems to be winning in that front.

The 3 seems to be popular with girls. Although someone said that the Lancer was girlish too. Thats not what I thought though.

edit: SDPHD where the hell are you? Help me out here!!
Oh Also, I added a poll :)

lol, the Evo X isn't even that pretty anyway. They seemed to get all the older Evo's I all the way to IX right, then the X came along..But I must admit an Evo in white is stunning, and looks very asian-y (you look at it and remark, 'an asian most likely drives that!')

I'd choose a 3 over a Yaris as well. Toyota makes the most boring, unexciting cars now, you step on the gas of a Prius and nothing happens ;D

Speaking of Toyota, have you considered the FT86? It's Toyota's new sports car that will probably release this or next year for probably around 30k.

If you do get a Lancer, by all means get rid of the ugly plastic wheel covers and get real wheels. Sounds pretty fussy but my opinion :)

Mazda, simply because it looks better. I'm not really into all the features and stuff that come with a car, but if it looks good then its on my list. I just abhor ugly cars. It's one of the things in life that piss me off.

if you looking for a sports car, try integra type r or type s, one of the most powerful car you can get under the p-restriction. Otherwise an old civic(eg6 <3), prelude or pulsar is a decent choice

Nah I'm not really looking for a sports car. I'll take the porsche later on thanks :)

Ok, screw this, now I'm leaning towards a 3. I wont regret not getting a Lancer if I get a 3. But I reakon I'd regret not getting a 3 if I get a Lancer.

Yet Lancer parts are apparently cheaper, and there service is every 12 months or 50,000, but the 3 is 6 months or 10,000

edit: And no Toyota's for me thanks, I'm a curry, how much more currier can I get?

Ssangyong. Whoever designs their cars needs to be shot with a high caliber rifle.

If it has a 4 cylinder rev-happy B or K series engine it's most likely sitting inside a molested/modified car.

But in terms of new cars, and either the 3 or Lancer, I'd go with the 3. It's common so servicing shouldn't be too expensive.

If you don't mind a second hand, a DC5 Integra is perfect.

Now we're talking :) 911 turbo from the 80's HELL YEAH!
