That's pretty high, thoughts?

By 2014/15, I reckon the MD/DDS will be the most competitive to get into in the country.  :/

Nice find though.

Holy moly!  And I thought my year, 2010 applicants, would have set the record at 89.05.  Who could have guessed?

After some thought, I believe there could be a number of factors involved here.

1.  The increase of interest and hence applications, especially with the selection guarantee these last two years.
2.  Expanding on number 1, because it is guaranteed, it means the Office of Admissions have to accept those who got above the required threshold.  This means that if there are a lot of people who qualify for that, they have to let them in and that could have ultimately drove up the ATAR.

I'm not 100%, just some initial thoughts.

Then you get passed on to your next preference. Not sure if you'll be considered if places become available but Gloamglozer can confirm this.

I think it does since VTAC publishes all the data of everyone who got accepted into each particular course.

Yes, Edmund is right.  Unless you are a SEAS applicant, then unfortunately your chances of receiving a second round offer from UoM are very slim.

That would pretty much be it. A few years ago, everyone hated on the Melbourne Model. Now it seems to be working for them...

Maybe the demand for Science has just increased? Monash's BSc ATAR has increased by more than 3 points as well. http://www.monash.edu/changeofpreference/assets/documents/atar-2012-r1.pdf
