What are the chances of getting a place in Biomed at Melbourne Uni for 2nd round offers with an Atar of 98.35?

Called them up yesterday.
They said that they are only giving out a couple of places and that you have to be bloody close to 99.
Slim chance. Sorry bud, but goodluck

Unfortunately, the way Melbourne structures their admissions means that it is incredibly difficult to get in a course on a second round offer under the clearly without SEAS of some kind.

However, you can do basically the exact same degree with a BSci @ Melbourne just taking Biomed subjects.

I know it's incredibly unfair that a person with a score of 98.00+ miss out on this course. This is mostly due to the fact that Melbourne guaranteed places to all SEAS applicants with an ATAR of 92 or above. This resulted in a whopping 56% getting under the clearly in and still being accepted. The other factor seems to stem from the rise in popularity of the degree.

I believe the government aim was to offer ~35% to SEAS applicants anyway. It is an equity thing, but this year a 56% under is ridiculous.

The government aim is a lot lower than 35%

It was around 25% right? Melbourne said they wanted to aim for 35%. They just grossly underestimated how popular the degree was.

So does that mean 56% of all people doing biomed 2012 are SEAS applicants?

Potentially more given that some of the 99+ people may have been SEAS

Well, I got in under the clearly in and I wasn't a SEAS applicant. I was however a KLD student. We got a guarantee if we got higher than a 95 (subject to availabilities)
