How heavy is the workload? How hard is it to achieve 75+%? The assessments seem quite daunting and there's a heavy weight placed upon the exam, so I was thinking of doing in throughout the summer instead of during my first year. Is this worth it or is doing it alongside 3 other subjects fine? Because it's a prerequisite for marketing major, I thought I should build a good foundation by focusing entirely on it.

I'm interested in this too as a breath.
Semester 1 timetable has no tutorial include in its times though?

So it was actually quite difficult and really tested your understanding of the material rather than your ability to regurgitate facts and definitions. If you hate essays or aren't good at them then definitely avoid doing marketing in semester 2 (I think the exam format is different for summer and definitely for semester 1 which features no essays!).

Maybe sem 1 is quite different from sem 2?

well no because the contact amount each week for marketing is three hours. and there's no way that there isn't any tute sessions, that would be weird. hopefully uom updates it soon - plenty of subjects lack timetables too. :(

Yeahhhh lol, I guess that side of me wishing for less contact hours wanted it to be true. :p
But it's weird if they have different style exams for semesters then.

yeah, i wonder if semester one would be easier for us. 30 minutes per essay sounds extremely daunting! i thought vce was my last glimpse of an essay marathon!

Haha I know! I thought I escaped essays by going into science. Even some physics exams seem to have essays. -_-
Hopefully uom will update their thingies so we can move on in planning. :P

60% exams are normal for commerce subjects.  If you're scared of 60% exams, then you won't like any maths subjects.

The semester 1 lecturer is a tad boring, he doesn't use powerpoint slides. He basically gives you uncompleted notes and you fill in gaps, some people liked him though. The lecturers in semester 2 and over summer are both brilliant, definitely recommend doing the subject during those times if possible.

And yes there will be tutes, that system is sometimes slow to update and doesn't feature the tutorial times but there's about 30-40 different tutorials because marketing is a huge subject so there's pretty much anytime you could want! I recommend getting in Melissa's tutes, she's incredible.

Also, since the lecturer makes their own notes and creates their own exam the course is actually quite different between each of the lecturers. My friend who did marketing in sem 1 gave me their notes and I couldn't really use them at all because the content they covered was actually really different. However, there exam was definitely a lot easier, apparently in sem 1 the exam was pure regurgitation of what was on the lecture notes. Although 4 essays in 2 hours seems daunting if you do it in semester 2 I promise it's doable and Simon the lecturer is so funny and great it's well worth it! Just like anything else, if you put in the work you'll do extremely well in marketing :)

Let me know if you have any other questions!
