That's because you're destined for a 50!
Its mainly just drama im nervous about. I think I'd get anywhere between a 28 and 40! such a wide unpredictable range D:

Yes! Honestly think I could be anywhere from 25-45 with Theatre Studies.

On results, tbh I'm more interested in my GAT score for now lol. ATAR didn't matter after my last exam... That being said, I'll probably bawl my eyes out on the seventeenth jahaha
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

They are so subjective when compared to subjects like maths! I was sitting in my drama exam reading my answers and thinking that these could be pure genius or completely horrendous!
What was the last exam you had?

They are so subjective when compared to subjects like maths!

There aren't really any subjects which are subjective at a VCE level, otherwise it wouldn't be fair. Even subjects like English, you're marked against an objective criteria. The examiner doesn't just say, "oh this is a 10", they will have a set of criteria you will need to have fulfilled in order to achieve that mark.

The same thing occurs in Maths and Science subjects. You're marked against a criteria.

With every subject, you are going to have examiners who mark you a little differently, some thing you might have fulfilled criteria A, some might think you haven't fulfilled criteria A. This is why you often get one examiner giving you 1/2 and one giving you 2/2 in Maths and Science.

The same thing happens in English, one might say 8/10, one might say 9/10.

So, my point is that all subjects are partially objective and partially subjective. All are objective in that they have marking criteria, yet they are all subjective in that they require the examiner's discretion. Maths is by no means not subjective, I've seem many, many cases where examiners have given different marks (it's probably as common as English).

Also, remember that examiners are trying to award marks where possible, not take them away. I think we all get this misconception of a greedy and cranky marker who gets a kick out of penalising us. :P

^ That is untrue for Further and Psych. They are looking for perfection and will not be lenient in any explanation-type answers. Fingers crossed we did alright for Further then! :)

That's due to a slightly uneven distribution (well, it's even because of what you said). For Drama though, I doubt that would be the case.

That's true, but im referring mainly to the solos when I say that. I was speaking to my drama teacher about the solos, and she has had cases when one lot of students were examined by one panel, and the rest by the other. Sometimes the students in one room score considerably higher overall than the students in the other room, even though she has predicted much differently.
But in saying that, its only one persons opinion, and the students in the lower scoring room may have messed up, etc.
I also mean that overall its harder for me to predict my study score. For maths, all the answers are on AN, but it's harder to guess for drama.
Sorry if it came off that i was being ignorant :P

That's a good point. I guess there will always be some level of subjectivity in marking, regardless of the procedures in place.

I'm focusing on the the year ahead.

Whats happened has happened, I'm certain that all of you will get the scores that you aimed for and deserved. For some of us, that could be a low score, for some of us it could a high score and everywhere in between.

The one thing I've been told by multiple past VCE student is that yes, the score you receive next week will contribute to your ATAR, (unless your doing 6 or more subjects etc..), but don't think it'll be this easy the next year. The time has to be distributed to all your subjects.

If you do well, that's absolutely fantastic, you've worked hard and that's taken a little pressure off you for year 12. You know that

But the thing they say affects most and is most important.

If you did not go well, it is not the end of the world, you have first hand experience of the requirements and the commitment required to do well in a 3/4 subject. This year, you know what you put in, and you know the result that came out. So now, you have the knowledge and can gauge how much effort you need to put in to make sure that your shortcomings this year will not occur next year.

Make sure you work harder next year and throw that subject into your 10%. Take next year more seriously

I was going to hold my consolation post until closer to the results date, but it seems appropriate to share it now I guess. :P

I know that the 17th of December will not be a happy day for some of us. We will wake up at 6:30am full of anticipation and when we finally get access to our scores a few might be disappointed (read: devastated). I can only re-iterate what Kesh has said in that you still have multiple chances next year to make things up. See Year 11 as a learning experience, not a missed opportunity.
