Use your study periods, guys. That way you'll have more time to chill at home. :)

im honestly already getting f***ed up the ass by all my subjects. trying to study 6 hrs after 4:30 pm everyday is proving to be very very tiring. i need a new routine

6 hours of homework a day seems a bit excessive at this time of the year. I'm only doing about 1-2 hours a day.

You're f***ing yourself by trying to study so much. Weren't you the same guy who said earlier that you had finished the course for every subject already or something?

If so (or even if not), you need to calm down and study smart.

Here are a few things to try:
- Study what needs to be studied according to the nearest SAC, test, etc but make sure you do more than 2 subjects per night to keep it interesting
- Make sure you get out of the house for like 30mins every day (and this is after school): take a walk, jog, etc
- Have at least an hour to chill and do something non-academic: play music, chill and listen to music, watch TV, read a book, etc.
- Have breaks every 30mins (unless you're writing an essay) for 5mins, to keep your mind fresh

If you do that you'll probs study for 3-4 hours and you'll be fresh every time.

@ pi: what if you take the 30min walk/jog before school? Is this still okay? (sorry, a bit of a silly question, but I had to ask  :) )

I did that all the time, but bascially cause I slept in and by walking a bit more than usual I was able to come for the 3rd period rather than akwardly coming late to class :p

Well I was thinking that if you take the walk/jog in between your studying it would be more beneficial to keeping fresh?

Having said that, I never really had an option to go before school haha :P

i have completed the course, but I still have to prepare for the UMAT, and my SAC's. also for physics and chem i need to do a lot of practice so that i could get the best chance of bringing them into the 40's.

@pi: would you seriously recommend at least an hour to do something non-academic? i was thinking maybe less haha, but give me your logic behind it  :)

I do so much "non academic stuff" haha. I guess it depends on ones goals.

My week day consists of, waking up at 5:15 and excersising. Getting to school at 7:30-8am, studying till about 8:45. then after school. 3:30 I get home. Non academic time (lol) is from 3:30 to about 6-6:30pm. From there, 1 hour of one subject, 10 minutes break, 1h of another. So once I'm done, it's about 8:15-9ish. I do what ever I'd like to, ie, get stuff ready for tomorrow. Then I get ready for bed and sleep :)

It's only the start for me, so if I do find myself falling behind excessively, I'll make adjustments as I go. Within a few months, my standard routine should be concrete :) Provided I'm disciplined enough to follow my own rules haha.

But as I mentioned, my goals are not very high compared to a lot of you guys so I guess that's why I have a lot of spare time. So I think a lot people will look at each others time tables and think, "wow, that's a load of loafing around he does" or "she's definitely gonna burn out", but without knowing the person, their goals and their expectations, I think it's hard to make a judgement on how people study.

But I think this will be enough for me to reach the goal I desire :)

(I'm gonna post this in the other discussion thread because I think this is a very interesting topic, feel free to discuss here or there. :) )

Well it depends on your aims etc. I felt that an hour was the right balance for me for the majority of the year (obviously exam time or the days before SACs I would study more) to meet my aim. I guess everyone will have a different balance, and I found my mix in yr11 as I really didn't change the way I studied between yr 11 and yr 12 (maybe I helped out more on AN during yr 12).

If you feel overly guilty spending a whole hour not studying, maybe include everything non-academic in that: all those 5min breaks, eating, checking fb, etc. and then you'll find that maybe an hour isn't enough :P But I seriously think it's important to have some "me time" to remain sane, social, prevent boredom and preventing burning out :)

I wouldn't say my routine was perfect (I wish I went out more, but unfortunately none of my mates lived on the westside...), but it worked for me I guess :)

Still in holiday mode at the moment, I do about 1-3 hours of homework a night...
But in saying that, I use ALL my spares productively :D I have 100-160 minutes each day at school dedicated to spares, so I think it balances out (mind you, some of that time is meant to be purely distance ed spesh :P)

Also in Year 12 this year.
Studying around 2-3 hours per night so far, sometimes even more if I feel I need to.
Still feel as if I need to know more, even though all of my SAC's are approximately a month away.

I usually do 2-3 hours per night plus the spares I have at school (usually around 50mins) so roughly 3-4 hour day. But that's still considering it's start of term and haven't got much homework yet. And I feel like i don't know what more i could be doing for extra studying, it doesnt seem appropriate to start doing exam questions. Any ideas?
