So I just came back from a trip, and unfortunately couldn't attend the aad. Apart from course and subject advice, what did I miss out on? ID card, diary, etc?

Nothing. It was absolutely pointless if you know how to read the University of Melbourne handbook. Student ID and diary can be picked up at the start of university or during O-Week.

The diary is also pretty useless unless you are planning on getting pregnant and need a number to call...

So it's completely useless if I've memorised all the numbers in my phone :P

All I did with that diary was stickytape my timetable to the back of it. Not even a single word was written inside.

Me too, except I had lectures at Redmond Barry a lot, and when I was I struggled to remember which lecture theatre I was in. I must have accidentally walked in the wrong lecture hall nearly a dozen times - eventually I started deliberately going through Lyle as a shortcut to/from Rivett

Completely agree, went home after only about two sessions.

Was late to the BA Course Info Session by three minutes too and had to wonder around for an hour. Fml

Serious?
Whilst I was late three minutes (on the dot too), others who earlier than me were already denied entry
No use charging through a mass crowd :(

I turned to my mate next to me and said, "Bit early for the next lecture isn't it?"

Ahah that was the biggest time-waster of my life. A 10-5 day of pointless lectures, where if you are actually capable of doing research you really, i mean REALLY didn't need to attend it lol. I don't know why they made it compulsory.
