umm didn't you get some form or something in your enrolment pack? Anyways in o-week u get sent to stalls to sign up if you want :). Join Bohds!

Is there anything good to go to during O-week? Because I'm thinking of just going to the dentistry specific ones and maybe a couple random events on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then just heading back to Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon.

I guess just typical O-week things, tours around uni, things to sign up for, freebies to get. I encourage you to go cause its a good experience to do the newbie things, plus don't u have to do some res things too? Its better to go to not miss out on socialising opportunities. Lots of free transport to things and stuff. But I went back after I did all that stuff, which was thurs morning.

Most unconventional health sciences like Pharmacy, Speech path, podiatry (Only course in vic i think), and Outdoor education/whatever the othr outdoor courses. La Trobe has an international standard for their outdoor courses (the camping, national park tourism and park rangers kind of thing) accordig to my friend who does the course. Other than that I guess they just cater to rural students who find it harder to get into metropolitan unis tbh.

Don't they have chiropractic as well?

But yeah, La Trobe seem to have a lot of allied health courses that aren't anywhere else. You're right Speech Pathology, Podiatory (one of my friends is doing Podiatory!!)

And yeah, prosthetics :) (Thanks Thushan!)

I guess you're right in saying that they cater for rural students, but they're also quite well known for the allied health courses.

Yea, the allied health courses and the rural student catering.... but I'll be honest, sometimes in Dentistry one can feel really isolated because I find it difficult to relate to some of the other students in a rural setting..

Not that much different to Latrobe. Just a year longer. Plus, there are guaranteed entry places for ATAR 96+ for Master of Speech Pathology. SO its like a double degree in Science/Speech Pathology for 5 years with ATAR cut 96.

@paulsterio No... I meant the entire uni in general. I meant to say like, being a dentistry student, with particular interests and attitudes towards life, differs greatly to the rural culture many students have who are attending La Trobe as a rural alternative to Monash/Melbourne.....

haha. Also guys (this might apply to thushan and paul), make sure you're on top of your credentials. Get all your shots and checks (WWC and Police) and stay on top of those! They are such a pain in the ass, especially when you've only got the weekend to sort things out and do appointments.
