At Monash medicine, would the bonding place or the rural place be better if you wanted to specialize later in life, and also what is easier to get in and better overall?

ERC would be preferred over bonded for later specialisation (fewer restrictions) but most of the spots are allocated to already proven rural students so it would probably be considered the 'harder' to get into of the two.

Yeh, definitely ERC. You wouldn't be at any disadvantage over the mainstream students in terms of specialising as far as I'm aware. Perhaps even a bonus due to the added experience?

I think that if you graduate medicine interstate or FFP at Melbourne then you will not get a guaranteed internship at a victorian hospital (is that right?). If you gain a place in the ERC program are you guaranteed an internship in victoria? Also, do you know if it is easier to gain an internship in victoria if you graduate through a FFP place at Melbourne, or graduate interstate?

Not entirely sure of the priority system, but didn't Russ already answer your question in another thread? Regarding ERC being guaranteed an internship, yes indeedy since it's still essentially a CSP place as far as I'm aware.

It's not guaranteed an internship though, since they're dropping the guarantee for post 2014 graduates

Sorry for sounding like a complete noob, but what exactly does a BMP and an ERC entail ( how are they different)

Also approximately what % of med places are bonded / unbonded ( monash espec)?

ERC means you do your clinical placements rurally as a medical student, BMP means you don't have to (you still have to do some, it's a government requirement to do at least 8 weeks rurally). BMP requires you to work in an area of workfall shortage after you become a specialist, ERC has no such requirement.

25% of all med places are BMPs, as per federal regulations/funding.
