So I'm planning out my timetable before the actual timetabling starts on Monday.

The problem is, well for one, my brain's turning into mush trying to figure this all out and secondly, I think I'm going to have to clone myself somehow because I've found out I need to be at two places at once quite often to make this all work.

For example.

Engineering Systems Design 1 has three repeats of the first weekly lecture on Monday and Monday only.

ENGR10004   L01/01   Monday   9:00am - 10:00am
ENGR10004   L01/02   Monday   2:15pm - 3:15pm
ENGR10004   L01/03   Monday   4:15pm - 5:15pm

Calculus 1 has four repeats of the first weekly lecture on Monday and Monday only.

MAST10005   L01/01   Monday   9:00am - 10:00am
MAST10005   L01/02   Monday   10:00am - 11:00am
MAST10005   L01/03   Monday   2:15pm - 3:15pm
MAST10005   L01/04   Monday   4:15pm - 5:15pm

Physics 1 has two repeats (says it has three?) of the first weekly lecture on Monday and Monday only.

PHYC10003   L01/01   Monday   9:00am - 10:00am
PHYC10003   L01/03   Monday   2:15pm - 3:15pm

And finally, my breadth subject, Science and Pseudoscience has one repeat of the first weekly lecture on Monday and Monday only.

HPSC10002   L01/01   Monday   2:15pm - 3:15pm

So as you can see, I have no way to attend every lecture (within the examples given there).

Or am I wrong in thinking that L01 and L02 are two different lectures with different content?

Because it says that L01 stands for the first weekly lecture for the subject, L02 stands for the second weekly lecture for the subject etc. I assume I have to attend all lectures given in a week for a subject, right? (i.e. L01, L02 and L03)

Either way, I hope my question makes sense and I hope I haven't confused myself or anyone else in the process of asking this question...

PHYC10003   L01/01   Monday   9:00am - 10:00am
MAST10005   L01/02   Monday   10:00am - 11:00am
HPSC10002   L01/01   Monday   2:15pm - 3:15pm
ENGR10004   L01/03   Monday   4:15pm - 5:15pm
Done :)

I'm just guessing but it looks like L01/01 is lecture one repeat one and L01/02 is lecture two repeat two... etc...

Hope I helped :) otherwise as you said, it just wouldn't work!

The thing is, the Calculus lecture is straight after the Physics one and they're in two different places (I dunno how far apart they are since I haven't checked yet) and I'm fairly sure I can't get from one place to another in 0 seconds.

Also this was just an example for what happens with lectures Monday, i.e. not including pracs, workshops etc (which would also have to be crammed into Monday with, at times, the same time slots).

And the same sort of thing happens on Wednesday too. Not so much on Friday/every other day though.

Is there any other way or do I just have to cram classes like this for the next semester/3 years/5 years?

Lectures end 5 minutes early and start 5 minutes late to accommodate for walking. You have 10 minutes :)

Fair enough. Hopefully things aren't too far apart, but with UoM...Heh.

You can get from anywhere to anywhere in 10 minutes fairly comfortably. Convincing lecturers to finish at 5 minutes to the hour is a different matter.

Also getting to lectures late is not a big deal at all

you are very correct
L01/xx will be different content to L02/xx
and Lxx/01 will be repeated in Lxx/02

dont worry about the 10 minutes to get to your next lecturer
firstly it's plenty of time and secondly even if you're late you probably wont miss anything critical
its usually just "lets get started now this lecture's objectives are..."

If you're doing science, you better get used to back to back classes lol. And yes, you get plenty of time to walk to the next lecture.

Thanks for restoring some faith into my immediate studying future, guys ;)

Also, on Monday, will we be timetabling for Semester 1 only or both Semester 1 and 2?

Sem 1 only.

Haha UoM is basically an upside down triangle (yea i know you mathematicians, upside down is ambiguous). Basically at the top left you have the arts buildings, top right you have the science buildings and bottom you have the commerce buildings.

And I just happened to have three consecutive subjects timetabled to locate at the three corners of the triangle. Lucky me :D

Ok, so monday we set up our timetable for semester 1 right? But when do we have to enrol into our subjects for semester 2, is there any specific date?

What's the difference between enrolling on the portal/study planner page compared to enrolling on monday? Does it matter if i just enroll on monday and not enrol on the study planner? o_o

started planning my timetable and I have so many 1 hour gaps between tutes and lectures, is this bad? or should I try make them one after the other? the distance to walk is pretty far, from arts buildings to the spot :/
