heeeey

so I've been given this opportunity to go on a 2 week leadership course
like, once in a lifetime sort of awesome-ness
I missed out on first round (and i chose my placement outside of school dates
yet I was given a chance second round, although it is the first 2 weeks of second term, and I'm going to go
if any of you are interested check out the Young Endeavor Youth Scheme

i was just wondering, espec. for those of you who already completed bio,
how much density does this course entail?
also if you guys could give a rough estimation as to where about your sacs were, (if you remember) and like when abouts aos2 started
I'm planning to stay ahead with my work, especially term 1 hols, and trying to cover what id miss out on those two weeks + study time
I was just after some tips??

tl;dr = im going away for two weeks, and i cant miss it, week 1/2 of term 2,
any tips on what to do?
Greatly Appreciated :)

chill, I'm assuming you're only doing one 3/4 this year

I slacked off in biol for pretty much all of term 1 last year with the intention of dropping it since I had already done two subjects in year 11.
My preparation for sacs was pretty much the car ride to school.

I realised how much biology interested me after we finished the course in school at the end of term 1, and just put my head down and taught myself the whole of unit 3 over the holidays (no exaggeration - I only remembered the shit to do with auxin and the other plant hormones because that's the only sac I did a little bit of study for, everything else seemed to be completely new to me) and did about 12-15 practice exams on top of all the other bits and pieces of study before the exams and I still managed a mid-high A+

and I was in year 12 with four other subjects

my unit 4 was shit but that's because I found it ridiculously boring

you'll be fine, it's not hard to learn the content yourself. I had four other subjects to worry about as well whereas you only have one.

but yeah cover what you think you'll miss plus a little extra and you'll be fine.

But as I said, you can self learn the course without much difficulty, so the sooner you finish, the better. As soon as you think you've got a really good grip on the content, do as many practice exams as possible and learn how to construct your answers in the best possible way because the biol exam markers can be harsh as fuck. You'll have much more time to do many more practice exams than I did, so don't waste the opportunity for you to do so, because you won't get the same luxury in year 12

so yeah don't worry too much

It shouldn't be that bad... the first parts of AOS2 is similar to U2 Biol (e.g. homeostasis, hormonal and nervous systems, etc); I was in a similar situation last year when i had to miss out for a week late Term 2 but I caught up easily. If you have a tutor or go to weekly classes (e.g. TSFX), it would help to catch up when you return but if u don't, don't worry! Seriously all you're missing is simple stuff. Just ask your teacher what you would be covering in class, get the notes, read them in your downtime while in the leadership program, etc and everything would be fine! It's the later part of Term 2 where new material comes in (i.e. immunity); but then again, I missed out on that but I still managed to catch up by myself so don't worry (if I people can catch up with immunity then I think you can manage catching up with homeostasis)  :p
