Oh lol I thought you meant a real SAC...
I have my first test for specialist maths next Tuesday. Wish me luck guys :)
I have mine on thursday, on complex numbers and regions.

Do topic tests accumulate our sac scores and does it effect our atarscore?

Wow your class must be pretty fast paced.
My class is still working on chapter 2 (vectors) and we're about to have a non-SAC test on algebra.
Unless it specifically says "SAC 1" or whatever on the planning document, then it won't be a SAC. My first real SAC for specialist maths is around mid-March.

Yeah, I thought we would be having our first sac around March too. My class is not fast paced look.

Pretty much regions correlates to complex numbers, theres like two useless excercises for regions in the maths quest textbook, but the essentials textbook has complex numbers along with regions and the excercise they have for regions is really useful.

I consider complex numbers + regions to be one chapter.

Unless they fluke their way into a higher rank than you...

I was shitting myself before my first SAC last year too, it's normal. Just use those nerves to your advantage by ensuring that you don't make out 24 + 36=50, like I did on my first SAC (AND THAT WAS BIO!!!!! >:()

Oh gee it took me 2 read before I realise that 24 + 36 = 60....

Anyway, I too feel that if you go into a SAC/ exam calm and composed, believing that you can do everything right (even when you don't know shit) you will perform better than what you would have had you went in shitting yourself. (ofc don't be overconfident though... I reckon that cost me my methods score) There's a line between calm/composed and overconfident. Push it but never cross it =)

Our teacher got us our rank for the mastery test. I am 5th in a cohort of 88 students. Is this good, because I feel a bit disappointed in myself.

It depends on the cohort, to be honest. Also depends on what you're aiming for. For example, if you were at a top notch school, that's excellent. If you were at an ordinary school, that might only good. Also if you were aiming for a 50, probably you'll need to push that up a little, whereas if you were aiming for a 30, you should be very happy with how you're going.

So in reality, it depends on your school and your own goals :)

Our school is just above average and I am aiming for 45+. I'd say that there is a top 10 in the cohort that is really strong.

Hmm, I'll need to do better in the SACs that do count. Maybe I'm lucky this test doesn't matter. :/

Rank 5/88 is fine. As long as you get a high A+ on both exams, you should be able to pull off a 45+.

Well I hope I can sit above that in the actual SACs. I'll use this as motivation to try even harder! "OFFICIAL" RANK 1 HERE I COME! :D

haha ... we have less than 88 students in vce at my school - year 11s and 12s combined...
but thats not too bad, work at it and hopefully you can make it to number 1
If you're in a weak cohort and you don't get first rank is that bad? I'm guessing no.2 or 3 in my cohort isn't regarded the same as no.2 or 3 at a 'top' school?
Not looking forward to starting school ... Monday's the first day

Don't be like me and **** yourself on the midsemester.  I freaked out; scored a low, low A+.

Good Luck! First sacs for maths are always the easiest (well at my school they were anyway)
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

Specialist At Specialist is the only 12 year student that is contributing the methods and specialist threads. No 2012'ers contributes as much as he does. He will potentially get a 50 in methods and spesh. He is the also the most dedicated spesh kid in here (srs).

Hopefully I can do my bid to contribute a lot more to methods and specialist threads as much as specialist @ specialist does.

Knowing that he will kick my ass, he and I would be great rivals. A challenger here appears, get ready spesh @ spesh ;).

I really do hope that Special at Specialist gets a 50 since that is what he is aiming for and it will serve as a great example and inspiration to people like me, who dont go to top schools ... All the best to him and to you abd123 and to everyone else this year who is being victimized by the VCE... May we all achieve our goals :)
