Health or Biology?

Hey guys,
What subject would you recomend to me out of Biology and Health and human development. I really want to do medicine, and am very interested in both of these subjects although i only have room for one of them (for timetabling reasons). I know that biology is recomended for medicine although my school has a very bad biology department and a pretty good health department in terms of both teachers and past students results.

Thoughts please?

There's stuff in both subjects which will be useful in Med really. For the Bio stuff that you miss out on in VCE, there's a Biology bridging course which you can do over the Summer. That said, most people don't do it anyway and just catch up once the year starts in the actual lectures. They go through it all as if you didn't know it anyway so it doesn't matter. It's not a pre-req for a reason. I'd go with HHD since your priority at the moment is getting in in the first place.

Although the biology department is bad, I think biology would probably be better to do, considering it is often (but not always) a prerequisite. If you work hard and get a good tutor, and use atarnotes to ask heaps of questions, I think you'll be fine :)

Wait what? I don't think Biology is a pre-req for any of the undergrad Med courses...

Although biology isnt a prereq, I would recommend it as health is not a prereq for almost anything! So it gives you more options. In saying that, you seem pretty focussed on med, which means the subjects you are doing are quite difficult and time consuming. Therefore I would say do health. It is by no means less work than biology but people will often find the concepts easier and given the low performance levels in recent years it is easier to do well if you consistently work hard.. that goes for all subjects.
