What does the GAT even do?

I know that you have SAC's and exam(s) contributing to your study score and that SAC's can be scaled depending on how well your cohort does at the exam(s).
How does the GAT come into play? Is it only useful for giving a derived study score if you miss an exam? Or does it have other uses?
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

The GAT can be used to check for errors. If a student has a high GAT score and a low exam score, the exam may be checked to see if the marking was accurate. The score can only be raised by this remarking, they are not allowed to take marks. Also, some subjects use the GAT to help calculate study scores. A list of these subjects is available on the VCAA website.
Anyway, the GAT is most important for derived exam scores. If you end up needing a derived score, mucking around on the GAT could cost you a year of your life. A year either spent repeating VCE subjects or doing a low level TAFE course to get into the course you want.

Can you please give me a link to these subjects?

It's a really short list. The subjects use the GAT to check SATs.

If you get a high study score but a poor GAT score (because you didnt practice for it) would your study score be pulled down?

The GAT? Pretty much nothing as far as I know - I think it might affect your SAC marks but that's about all. My friend got in the 20s for GAT English (he wrote a parody and mentioned someone in it, I think it was Bear Grylls, don't remember who it was this year!) and he managed to get a 49 for English :P

It's an evaluation run by the government.

People who do well will be given priority for seats in rocket ships when there's a zombie apocalypse.

So study hard and do well, othwise you'll regret it.

Because there's a shortage of expertise in Wolves and Bees.

Yeah, and the whole zombie apocalypse thing too. If you do badly, play more CoD and hope for the best.
