Need help with SAC 2!?

Hey guys,
I have SAC 2 on Monday & we've already done the prac.
So the prac was on enzymes & what we did was we place trypsin in milk at different temperatures and observe the results.
So I've basically learnt everything there is to know about enzymes, I don't think I've missed anything, though, I just need some explanation of inhibitors, I can't quite seem to grasp the concept of them, help would be much appreciated

Also, if anyone could give me just some random questions on enzymes on this thread, that would be amazing!

Inhibitors essentially alters the active site either directly (actually binding to the active site) or indirectly (binding to some other part other than the active site) to the enzyme --> directly= blocks the active; indirectly= changes the active site due to a variety of factors (e.g. placing some pressure on the actve site, thus altering its shape) --> substrate can't bind to active site --> enzyme becomes non-functional

Context questions on enzyme inhibitors would be related to its medical uses: such as, ibuprofen, etc.

Question: Junket is a commericially available enzyme extract, which is used in a dry tablet form. The instructions on the packet state that the lukewarm milk shuld be used and then it should be left undisturbed until it sets.

a- What is the name given to a substance on which an enzyme acts?

b- i- name the subunits from which enzyme are synthesised.

ii- Name the organelle that manufactures enzymes.

A student immediately decided to make Junket. after boiling the milk he immediately added the tablet. the required time passed and the milk did not set.

c- From your knowledge of enzyme structure explain why the milk did not set, even though the mixture was cooled and the correct proportions were used.

B- i) Amino Acids? (I think that's what you were asking for?)
    ii) Ribosomes

C) Shit, that's a good questions, I have no idea, does it have something to do with the bonds?

Because the student added the tablet immediately, (when the milk was boiling; exceeding the critical temperature of the enzyme) so the enzyme extract in the tablet was denatured.

You're right through, denaturing does alter/break the bonds in the protein structure. Im pretty sure on the tertiary level, but someone please correct me if im wrong

^Yeah, you're partly right; secondary or tertiary level, but NOT primary level

When answering questions like c, you have to include reference to the active site (as it said to refer to 'enzyme structure) and substrate:

-enzyme denatured due to extreme temp
-active site of Junket altered shape; therefore, enzyme-substrate complex could not form- milk did not set
