Why does everyone say first year is a bludge?

Honestly, the workload is getting ridiculous for me and people say it's easier than year 12, and you always hear about people going out all the time on weekdays etc.

More work, less pressure

what do you mean by less pressure? If anything I think there's more pressure to do well

First year counts for the least, so less pressure in comparison to future years

But yeah, more work

First year—most certainly not a bludge if you're aiming for a transfer.
I always look a little lost.

Definitely not a bludge. There's so much I need to review, but since there's almost no pressure, I rarely end up studying.

Or if you're looking to pass...

I agree to the "more work less pressure". Basically when you got into the course you desired, you only need to pass to graduate however of course, depending on the nature of the course, marks may affect employment.

I know right!! its like I have no time to really do anything, all thats on my mind is how much work i gotta get through during the time limit that I have. Looking forward to our mid semester break next week, just wanna go out for a day and make it uni free.

But then again, its more like all assignments become due around the same time, so all of a sudden you have this massive workload..that you didn't have before..

More work, less pressure

Unless you are aiming for PG med or law, in which case it is more work and more pressure.  :p

And first year is a bludge...take it from a second year haha.

Nah, I found Semester 1 last year really bludgy.  Semester 2 on the other hand was a killer.  Worse than year 12.

And this year is even worse...like 10 times worse!

The only pressure that exists in uni is what you put on yourself. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been properly stressed for uni in the last few years, and they were mostly relating to exam assessment.

You can have a totally uni free day during semester if you need to relax, just skip the lectures and catch up on them online. It's important to keep the right balance, especially since the difficulty ratchets up every year.

I found uni to be more work than year 12, then again I did squat in year 12...
uni tends to be stressful for around 2 weeks in the semester when all the big assignments are due and after that the workload calms down a lot.

Also the way I see it is I shouldn't be getting too stressed out at uni so on days I'm feeling really stressed, I just miss class or hand the assignment in late. I find it's better to come back to something with a clear head then to just stress myself out during a time when I should be enjoying myself. Uni gives you that freedom whereas VCE doesn't.

Depends how you work, I rarely have a completely free day where I don't go in and don't study at all. Sometimes I do (eg if there's something big planned that day or whatever) but in general just doing a small, consistent effort is more than enough for me
