Anys was not religious she was more into the naturalistic way of life - she viewed the plague as something which was natural not induced by God, you can use the example of the villagers they thought that God brought the plague so instead of finding a solution for it in nature they thought prayer and redemption from sin would stop the plague, use examples from Mompellion, she was not bound by the laws and customs of religion and therefore was more free to do whatever she liked (blasphemy, pursue science, have sex before marriage, etc)
Anys was single and a feminist, she wasn't a slave to a man, she was an independent - you could use the example of villagers such as Mary Hadfield or Aphra Bont who were under the control of a man and therefore were not free, think about how badly Josiah Bont treated Aphra how he put her through all the punishment (Scold's bridle, physical abuse, humiliation etc.), in that time period it was perfectly normal for a man to treat a woman like that, because of her being single she was free to pursue her own goals.
