Is re-listening to biology lectures a waste of time?

I've been listening to the lectures again, but i'm not sure if this is wasting time? Could someone who has done biol1003 or who is doing it share how they approached/approaching the study? And what type of exam questions to expect? do the power point slides provide all the information?

Thanks

I don't do bio but i reckon you're better off to just read the lecture slides again, then watch the part of the lecture again if you're having trouble. If you understand the slides then do questions, if you get stumped by a question refer to notes and lectures if need be.

^ What swarley said.
I usually annotate notes in the lectures (or lectopia if you don't go :P)
and then just do quick weekly summaries. Helps a lot with revision

I fell a sleep during the plant lectures and everything that the last guy just covered, and I didn't make any summaries, so basically I don't even know what we covered. I have been listening to lectopia am up to lecture 21 now I only have a few more to go so i guess maybe i'll continue but it feels pointless because this particular lecturer who covered from 21-28 just read off the slides!

Thanks anyway guys, had i been more organised during the semester what you guys are saying is 100% correct, but given my circumstance i think i'll finish listening :)

But in terms of exams do you think reading textbook is really important? I'm just confused about what we actually need to know and what not, I wish there was a study design...

I'm writing notes every day and studying 2 lectures a day/ memorising. So hopefully i'll finish 5 days before the exam and do the sample exam they have given us

Majority is just lecture notes, however in ilts and things they have given us stuff about blood/ more about the heart we didn't actually cover. Wth?

That's a good approach El2012 :)

I'm going to write myself a plan in a few minutes (once i stop procrastinating on atarnotes as i have been the whole day)  and follow that which would involve basically going over lectures and memorizing (i guess we can't really do anything else for bio) , hope it works :D

what do people think of one subject per day? or is it more efficient doing multiple per day? I know its subjective but just want to get some opinions :)

I stuck to the textbooks in the first few weeks then gave up because stuff in there seemed to be more detailed
than we need to know. If you have time, reading it does help because you get the big picture and understand stuff but yeah..
I'm just relying on lectures now. ahahah

^ I did textbook for 1 week :)
never looked at it again, because like you said it seems like we don't really need to knw all that stuff (what a waist of money!  :-\)

I'm relying on lectures now too :P

I read the suggested reading in the textbooks for the first couple of weeks but doing that for every subject was time consuming. Wish they had some kind of study guide/list or more past exams.

I did Biol of Cells and Organisms in first year. I didn't attend many lectures at all, but before the exam I just had all the lecture notes and read through them constantly the days before the exam. I never listened to the lectures. I don't really think that there is much conceptual learning in 1st year Biology, just a lot of wrote learning that you can just learn through reading the lectures notes. Everything that will be assessed will be on these lecture notes

I am going to do that. watching lectures is so draining and time consuming especially with my other subjects.
