does anyone know how to do the for which of the following equations do the lines pass through the origin?
y+x=1 like this question.

if there is no constant, ie translation in the y direction, then it passes through the origin.

Just plug in (0,0) as your x and y values.
0+0=0 not 1 so it doesn't.
