very weak cohort and screwed sacs...

ok my situation is that...

I screwed up a sac because i stuffed the discussion part of my sac and lost way too many marks than what i think i deserve to have lost... (teacher hates me and always undermarks my prac writeups for tiny mistakes...) helped a girl in my room told her what to exactly write on her writeup yet she ends up scoring much higher than me writing the exact same content for both writeups... fml

and now my sac ranking is like 7/10 but the other kids are super lazy and have not even began revising for the exam... super weak cohort class all but 1 of my friends study scores for 3/4 last year were < 30...

anyway what happens if i get A+ on both exams but sacs were like a high b+ or low A and still under ranked by classmates? but my friends all get D - B on exam? and their sac mark is higher than mine (my teacher hates me) what happens in the GA for sacs?

will it be moderated to higher than theirs? will it be moderated to a+?
or mine will be dragged down even more with the weak cohort? or will it just stay a B+?

is it possible to get over 45 in chem in this situation?

I will leave it to the more experienced students to ask what score you will get..

However, if you feel that your teacher is discriminating against you and you have solid evidence of it, you should definitely speak to someone about it, it just isn't fair the teacher should be dealt with ASAP, because if his marking you down because he hates you or other reasons besides your performance on the SAC then then you have an issue on your hands. I recommend speaking to your coordinators and parents about this issue, try to resolve it asap.

BTW How do you know that you are getting marked down because the teacher 'hates you'.. because you really just can't assume that to be honest.. and you may be accusing your teacher wrongly.

- Do not tell other people in your school what to write on their SAC, they will rank higher than you
- Do tell other people in your school how to answer exam questions after the SACs are completed; if they do better on the exam, that'll help you
- If you do super well on the exam, there's always a chance, yes (particularly since chem sac corresponds to 33% of your mark)
- Talking to a co ordinator might actually antagonise your teacher further if you're not ultimately able to switch classes... If you're doing anything they hate (talking in classes, not addressing the mistakes they've picked up) fix it if you can.  There's really not much you can do, unfortunately. Everything would be pretty much controlled by your teacher..

Jokes aside, if you really think you're being treated unfairly, talk to a co-ordinator and try and sort things out!
And I'm sure if you ace the exams you will get mid 40s, seeing as you have so many other SACs to regain ranking positions! Also SACs are only 33% in comparison to 66% for exams

lol this made me laugh  but I read a few other peoples sacs and we all mentioned the same thing except they got 7-8/10 for discussion criteria and i got 5/10 ? (wtf) and when I asked my teacher why he said i forgot to include basic errors such as different amount of esters reacting  due to mole ratios and no one else put that except one person .. maybe she deserved her mark

but what annoyed me the most is i got the same as a girl who scored 24 in business last year with 18/25 and she literally does not know what an alkane is. .. and I think she doesnt even know how to answer anything in the course...

and im here working my butt off every night and weekends ive been attending tsfx weekly master classes for all classes and seeking help from my cousin who got 47 on chem and already scoring 80 - 90 % on practice exams with 3 weeks to go ...

You got potential bro.. you gotta speak to someone about your teacher.. other then that there is nothing you can do about it.

same thing happened in bio last year ... our school sacs r messed up  .   . .  the bio teacher gave away a+s to 5 - 6 people and of the 5-6 they all scored C and C+s on the mid year.. LOL

and they all complained to me about how they didnt keep their sac mark lol.  but that teacher liked me and I also got a+s so i think i kept my result coz of  A and A on both exams

and so yea what happens to me if i get b+s and the kids who get a+s in sacs do crap... but im sure they will not get an a+ in the exam simply because they havent studied all year . . . they do nothing in class and talk about how many girls they banged at the last party . . .

that generally means your school is making the sacs far to easy, not giving adequate prep in terms of context for the exams

why the fuck are your teachers giving marks based on who they like? sorry but that is very stupid.. your teachers are clearly not qualified enough to mark sacs if that is the case..  sacs marks = performance on sacs not which student you dislike, like etc.

it may not be the way they are marking the sacs, most of the time if a cohort goes badly on an exam overall the sacs were to easy and the top sac mark (high A+ because its so easy) may only get a D or C on the exam. this happens because vcaa dont moderate every sac and say thats to easy/hard they just get moderated from the exam score

the school is rank like 460 of 510 ....its messed up . .. .  only 2 subjects from 120 students scored over 40... with median of 26

in fact my schools sacs for methods  further chem and physics is so messed up ... our sacs are compltely open book and everyone talks during the sac and looks onto other peoples papers.  . . and the teachers dont even care...

last methods sac was compltely open book and calculator on for exam 1 style questions but the questions were super easy... pulled out of the methods textbook .... not 1 challenging question

during the chem write up the class was talking about NBA basketball during the sac and even the teacher joined in debating on who was the best player lol . . .

last english context sac some student retold the plot in her own words just copying walls of text straight out of the book and still scored a high A+ wtf? as the teacher was reading it out even the other students thought it was crap..but again the girl got it because the teacher "likes" her... and another situation a girl wrote her oral presentation the night before . . . and still pulls an A+ simply because she teachers "think" she works hard...but in methods she cant apply chain rule...sigh

but I guess its ok since im in top rankings in the other classes except chem ...

school is so bad it didnt even offer a specialist maths class this year but i didnt want to via correspondant ... so took further lol

edit: to answer ur question.. i only think the english and chem marks (prac ) are biasly marked towards the teachers preferences because methods and further is cannot be discriminated

this is exactly what is happening.... but what if my sacs are really low ranked in a terrible cohort? will my GA1 be A+ Ga 2 be C/D ? Ga 3 be A+? if i got a+ both exams?
if so im scrwed...

Lol.. my school is ranked 480 out of 510 but we don't have that kind of thing at our school. Methods and Chem SACs are very strict.. I think my school does badly because we don't have solid foundations for Year 11 our teachers for Year 11 are extremely mediocre. But the best teacher that we have for Year 12 has 2 Master degrees (Maths and Physics) and has a Ph.D in Medicine, she teaches Physics, Chem, Specialist, and Biology.. without her I don't think the class would have passed any of the SACs or exams..

But yer, your SACs are really stupid - SACs are supposed to be a determination of the effort and performance of the students you can't have people cheating otherwise they will get an undeserved rank and therefore the people working hard will suffer.

I reckon I come from the lowest ranked school on the forum haha. Anyway, goodluck with the issue, resolve it ASAP you don't want your SACs to disable you from achieving a high study score.
