How do I improve my exam performance?

I've definitely improved from my 1st practice exam (in the 50s), now getting in the 70s and 80s but it seems to have stabilised. I'm doing about 1 trial every 2nd day, in between reading over notes and redoing/going through questions that i've previously gotten wrong. I feel like my knowledge and confidence is growing but my scores seem to have reached a peak where it now won't go any higher...

My question is, does my approach seem reasonable. Or am i somehow ineffectively using the remaining 20 ish days? Any suggestions that may help me is welcomed and greatly appreciated ;D

Cheers

read the questions very carefully don't just rush through them and relax when doing the exam.. your mind is more likely to forget info when you are panicking then if you are relaxed.. pinpoint what questions you are getting wrong and focus on improving them by doing questions from study guides, textbooks, or reading through notes/textbook on the theory.

In these twenty days,
go over your previous exams and pick out the mistakes you made
and put them in an 'Error/Mistakes book'
go over these mistakes, in the book and see how many of them you get right when you go over them.

are the mistakes you make similar(from similar topics/similar styled questions?) or are they all spread out.

also, exactly how many exams have you done?
Make sure you do exams in exam conditions, so start using reading time, and when you finish early check over your exam like you would in a real exam.
As impatient as it may make you, trust me, in the end it will help you a tonne-load! Exam technique may be what is deterring you from achieving any higher at this point.

I tend to lose marks on just questions that are structured in a way i have never seen before. So i think my problem is just not being able to apply my knowledge to unfamiliar territory. And occasionally i find myself panicking when i see stoich questions involving gas laws and also random theory questions.

I've done half of checkpoints, some of the questions from liaschem big blue book, all of neap study guide and all of Atar notes study guide. And have done ~10 practice exams thus far, but planning to get another 10 under the belt before the big day.

I think the most important think is to know your stuff. Although this may seem basic, I see many people who aimlessly undertake as many practice questions as possible without really understanding the process occurring. Use the exams and questions you have done to identify holes in your understanding, which you can then target through re learning. At least that's how I'm approaching the exam... just my two cents :)
