I don't think you really understand the system. An A+ is simply the top 10% of the students who did the exam. Since the vast majority of students had trouble finishing and in general the exam is considered to be harder then last years, the A+ cut off is likely to be lower.

Well I do understand the system I just don't believe it will be lower than last year simply because people on this forum think it was hard. People in my class aced it and they think they will be over 82

People on this forum generally represent a good portion of the top students in the state though... the median Atarnotes ATAR score each year is like 99 lol.

Anyway, I've spoken to my accounting teacher and she did say that in general, this exam was the hardest (not so much conceptually but time wise) that they've had in quite a few years. Most schools also struggled with it, including some of the schools that generally do really well in accounting.

By the way guys, I'm not saying this because I personally am praying for it - I think I got a reasonably good score regardless of the A+ cut-off, however from an objective point of view the A+ cut-off will almost certainly be lower - and in the absolute worst-case scenario, stay the same as last years.

oh okay fair enough i haven't spoken to a teacher or anything.
i guess im just trying not to get my hopes up because i think i got around 73-76

is it true that the lower the A+ cut off is the less of a gap the A cut off has compared to the A+
eg last year A+ was 75 and A was 69.5, so this year if A+ is 73 A might still be 69

I don't think so, I mean in the end it's all about what proportion of students got what grades, if the scores are very spread out then the A cut-off will be lower and if a lot of people got around the same mark it'll be higher.

hey guys,

do you reckon the examiners will mark slightly easier this year due to not many people finishing ?
