Ok guys, I think there is some disagreement about what the GAT is actually used for and MOST of the info given out yesterday regarding the topic was 100% false (trolling), and I thought that everyone seemed to understand that, but apparently that is not the case.
So to avoid further confusion, here's the gist of it:
- Used if you need to get a derived score
- Cohort GAT aids VTAC in the scaling of your SACs
- Used if you are in the MIDDLE BAND in some course in some unis (Monash is one for example), we're not sure what they do if you have a very good GAT, but one does (in some way) aid your admission if you are in the middle band
- The MCQs are mainly used for the science/maths and humanities sections, the written sections are mainly used for English
- You can be reported for writing derogatory comments in your GAT, whether targeted at the examiner, VCAA or anyone else
That's it. I notice that on the previous page there was a fair bit of up-voting and unfortunately, down-voting too. I suspect that is due to a few misconceptions regarding the role of the GAT sparked most likely from the events of yesterday's trolling from a number of users (myself included). Some of you ma have thought that most of what was said was clearly false, however, please show some respect for those who may have misinterpreted it
On behalf of he trollers of yesterday, I apologise for any misinformation that may have happened
Common FAQs regarding trolling:
Q: Can I troll the GAT?
A: It's up to you, you can do whatever you want, however you might as well do the best you can as you have nothing too lose. If you are doing an English 3/4, I would think twice before writing some random crap in your written sections though.
Q: What is trolling in this case?
A: Don't insult anyone, any company (esp VCAA, VTAC), groups of people (includes genders, occupations, cultures, etc.). Don't swear out of context. Other than that, you should be safe.
