Just out of curiosity, what would happen? Do you get kicked out and get a 0?

Happened at my school last year. Phone confiscated and investigated by VCAA for 3 months. Search for anything that could be used to cheat including history and stuff like that.

You'd be not allowed to finish you exam and you'd be reported to VCAA where you'd attend a hearing (of sorts) to defend yourself. It's pretty much impossible to win and they'd give you a N for that exam (a 0).

I don't understand why people bother to bring it anyway. You can leave your bags and stuff with the examiners/outside the exam room anyway can't you?

Well for me, personally, I have OCD and I need to have my phone in my pocket at all times or else I just feel weird. It's like, whenever my phone isn't sitting in my right pocket, it's all I can think about and I just feel so empty and uncomfortable.
Having said that, I usually don't bring my phone into the exam room. I would rather have a slight discomfort in my pants than have to worry about the risk of getting caught.

During the last 15 minutes of the GAT yesterday, someones phone went off. None of the supervisors said (or did) anything though, so I guess that person was pretty lucky!
