I dont mean like the ones in year 12 you study and you are forced to read im talking about books in general.

I used to read heaps when i was younger and i really think it improved my writing ability + ability to think on the spot during tests/exams etc

Does anyone read books ? if so do you think it helps you alot in an academic sense?

pls respond

Books are awesome, I think it helped me academically in the sense that I picked up vocab that I would normally never encounter. And the ideas/plots that many books have help with writing too ;)

Currently munching my way through the Star Wars books :)

Well my effort in school certainly never did me any favours so I think being read to and continuing my own reading has definitely helped me academically. Having a solid understanding of English not only makes English easier, but much easier to grasp concepts and be concise in exams etc. Still make time for reading before bed now.

Yeah I love reading. Haven't been able to much this year, but I think it definitely helps to do so at a young age, especially with writing.

Honestly, I think reading has been a good and a bad thing for me. On the good side it's helped tremendously with my vocabulary and writing skills. I accredit my grades in English to reading so much. On the bad side there's been times when I've put off studying and doing school work to read instead and once I get reading the only thing that can stop me is when I run out of books to read. :P

Absolutely love reading books but hate the ones they make us read at school with the exception of 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' LOL
Although I'm hating the fact that I might not be able to turn pages of a book but rather just read books on an e-reader :'(

Yeah that's exactly what happens with me too, which is why I've decided not to touch any books that aren't for English or Lit until the end of the year :P

Yes I love reading. Much to my own surprise I haven't read To Kill A Mockingbird yet, so I'm reading that at the moment.
