If done on Skype, i don't think there's any features that allow for silencing everyone else, so everyone in Skype would genuinely have to make an effort to mute their microphone as to stop feedback/background noise from coming in.

Good point. Btw where's Nisha? She's the one who made the idea in the first place!

My opinion is the forum should be good. Why?
1) No need for connection issues with microphones, etc. not working
2) Simple, no need to download or install anything
3) No privacy issues
4) No need to record convos as everything is here, easily found later if needs be, especially for those who miss it
5) Mods (ie. thushan) can control things if trolls come into it more easily
6) Convo can be locked after the period of meeting is up to keep it focused

Just my opinion though.

How about TeamSpeak?   I've just been reading up on Skype group video calling and it says you require atleast one connect to be Skype Premium subscription (could someone check over this pls?)

TeamSpeak
- Free
- Allows Voice Communication Text communication aswell (which could be backed up)
- Allows for moderation

Cons
- Think it requires a server to run (if not many people are on, could host from a clients computer)

It doesn't have to be a video call - in fact it'd be better if it weren't video, otherwise it'd be WAY too slow and compromise people's privacy.

You guys should use Team Viewer http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx, it is used at uni. It's a really good program, it allows the host to share his/her screen with everyone with all the benefits of voice chat/instant messaging etc

TT, i was gonna suggest TeamViewer aswell, but doesn't that only allow one connection per time unless you've bought a license?

Hmmmm, I remember using it at uni and we all just downloaded the free version, it had full compatibility. I'm actually not too sure, maybe it was because my tutor had the full version and he was the host.

we do something more instant (skype/iirc/whatever) then post up what we spoke about on the forums for that week so people who missed can read/ask questions?

When I used to host tutorials I could have multiple people viewing my screen with the free licence (non-commercial use) client (the main download from the site) so unless things have changed, you should be able to do so without a "full" version.

I believe in the latest client it is called a meeting and the person "running" the meeting can mute and unmute all users viewing the screen, which would also be beneficial.
