No practice exams for certain subjects

So I have a subject with 70% weight towards the final exam. AFAIK the subject has been running for the last three years. Yet the lecturers have told us that there are no sample papers, and in addition no practice questions that we can use to prepare. Instead we should refer to the lecture handouts.

Fair enough you might think. But when you consider that the handouts were mostly rubbish pasted into a word doc at 2am while watching lateline (yes he admitted this), it seems hardly fair. In fact in one of the slides I actually saw Netscape Navigation being used. I laughed it off but then two slides later I saw the time and date in one of the screenshots...August 2000 FFS. The lecturer later admitted that the slides need to be updated and we should only focus on the more relevant parts. The worst part is the course was so vague hardly anyone knows what to expect. There is also no prescribed text.

I'm just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences. What was the worst subject you've taken in terms of quality of readings and vagueness?

If they want to do it like that they should mark according to the bell curve; do they do this?
Otherwise it would be unfair.

No bell curve AFAIK. I mean it is a first year subject so it isn't too important but still I don't understand how some people are so lazy, especially in academia. Perhaps this is why half of the guys aren't in the industry anymore.

That makes it pretty unfair especially since there would be people who get insider knowledge!
