Adjusting study plan for breadth requirements

Is it possible for the student centre (/ 13 MELB) to rearrange my breadth subjects around in my study plan?

I have an issue where I've done a level 2 breadth, but I enrolled into it in the slot for level 1-3 breadths, and I've run out of slots there, meaning, I can't enroll into a level 1 breadth for this semester.

If so, do you think they can do it over the phone?

I can't really tell what you're studying from your post, but arts students can request for their study plan to be manually changed by the student centre via this link. I've had to use it a number of times.

I'm a BSc student. Is there anybody I can speak to over the phone (e.g. managers of the advisors?) who do have the authority to make changes? It's a relatively minor alteration.

Just call 13MELB and ask them anyway. The wait isn't that bad. If they can't do it, they will give you advice on what to do next. Most likely, if you don't want to go into the EPSC, they will ask you to send an email with your problem for it to be fixed. I think the email is [email protected]

This is probably a silly question but how many breadth subjects can do you get to do (per semester and over three years)? And specifically for the Bachelor of Arts, if possible. I'm pretty sure it's one per semester but not certain.

Do you do breadth for postgrad courses as well, such as the JD?

Over the three years you have to do a minimum of 4 but can't do more than 6. I can't see why you couldn't do more than one per semester if you really wanted to. We were allowed to do more than one IDF/Arts Foundation subject per semester.  You just have to keep in mind that in arts you have to complete 6 arts discipline subjects  at each level.

And no, the JD doesn't have breadth.

No. If you did more than 6 then you wouldn't be able to complete the requirements of degree. Have a read of the requirements in the handbook.

Is it because then you wouldn't be completing enough Arts discipline subjects? It's going to be hard to choose a single breadth track to do haha.

You don't have to do all the subjects in a track (i don't think anybody does them, they're just suggestions)

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. The recommended either coming in or emailing.

I ended up emailing and they said the wait would be ~5 days. Is that an actual estimate or is that what they always say?

Yeah I know. I'm just pretty keen on the Chemistry breadth track but I also want to do music subjects #firstworldproblems

Yup, that's exactly right.
