I really dislike that whole situation with dowries tbh, I really can't see the logic in it. My mum's family didn't have to give one when she married my dad and I don't think anyone should. Complete bullsh*t imo.

I'm dissapointed that this shit still goes on. I know obviously we live in Australia, and this happens in a country that does not necessarily have the same ideals and beliefs, but seriously? It is truly saddening of the irony between dowries and Goddess Lakshmi. Thinking that India is a spiritual nation seems like a veil that covers its spitefully instinctive notions of a boy and girl

This article only considers life for women in the poor man's shoes. Dowry is the main problem and it arises mainly from this arranged marriage shenanigans.

Look at it from their perspective.
Firstly, Indians are mostly retarded, especially in rural regions when it comes to this.
You have baby girl, that means that eventually you're going to have to find a shit load of money to pay the dowry, otherwise no one marries her. No one marries her = her life ruined.

What's more bullshit is that every bollywood movie is a cheesy ass dicky love story(except for you amir khan), and you'd think the country would take a hint after watching 50 movies a year of that shit.
BUT NO.
Stupid india.

(BTW; trend's getting better. >> All uncles + aunties + parents = arranged marriage, but only 2/5 cousins arranged marriage.[all born and bred in india]) There is hope yet
