question about majors for science

I was looking through the majors for Bsc and came across pathology... the information on the UoM website says that  u can apply for
"Graduate degrees in a wide range of professions including engineering, law, medicine and other health sciences, and teaching" with this major.

How is this possible? I thought that to pursue engineering you needed to take up a engineering systems major...

Lastly does anyone know what branch of engineering can be taken at postgrad through a major in pathology?

thanks in advance

Yeah I think you have to do an engineering systems major: http://www.bsc.unimelb.edu.au/majors/

e.g. civil eng: http://www.bsc.unimelb.edu.au/civil-systems
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

you don't need to major in a engineering system to do it postgrad, just postgrad is 1 year quicker if you do an engineering system

Ok, well Melbourne's stance is that if you do your BSc and major in an engineering system, you have to do a 2 year MEng to be qualified.
However, if you do another major, with 25 points of 1st year mathematics (Calculus 2 and Linear Algebra), you can apply for the MEng, but will have to do 3 years instead.

By another major, I mean a non-engineering major. Just clarification

In case my message didn't go through:

I don't really understand your question. Assuming that you want to do a pathology major, in order to keep hopes for MD alive (assuming once more), you are asking if you can complete a Master of Engineering with that major. Yes you can.

HOWEVER, in order to be eligible to enter the MEng, you have to do Calculus 2 and Linear Algebra (first year math courses. If you havent done Specialist, you need to take Calculus 1 before Calculus 2). You also have to take 2 sciences (Phyics 1, Physics 2, etc) relating to the discipline. Also a 65% average in year 2 and 3 is required irrespective of major.

If you take this pathway however, your Engineering Masters will be 3 years long, not 2. I repeat, 3 years. That adds up to 6 years at university. If you want to know more about admission, go here: http://www.eng.unimelb.edu.au/study/graduate/

Click on a discipline and it will state it's prerequisites.

Hope I helped.
