45+ with short story for context essay section?

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but is it possible to get 45+ or even 50 WITHOUT writing an expository or expository-creative essay in the Creating and Presenting part of the exam? I prefer to write imaginative short stories and so far I've received full marks for the practice SACS and real SACS I've written in this form. However I'm worried that a simple short story won't get me that elusive 50 at the end of the year. I've heard that 50's are only given to expository or hybrid essays. Should I try writing in those styles instead? Thanks.

Very possible, if it's brilliant, any form will do.

Haha no problem :)

From memory though, "most" of the high scoring pieces tend to not be persuasive, so unless you are very confident with that form, I'd avoid it :)

Remember, 50s aren't directly to individual essays. Your Creating and Presenting essay will be marked out of 10 or 20 or whatever and that's that.

You've got your causal relationships mixed up. Yes, most 50's are actually given to expository styles, but that is not because they are expository but it is because they are well written. Some top-tier private schools favour their students writing expository styles and those students tend to be good writers and hence, they tip the balance so that they will get more 50s

Well, the 4 top in my cohort for english (mind you this is a public school, so not a large amount of 48+), did short stories for the context section, Identity and Belonging being our focus. The scores gathered were 50, 48, 45, 42. I think you need to play to your strengths, whether that be expository or creative.
