Undergraduate Medicine Interstate Competitiveness?

Hi all,
I want to get an idea of how hard the competition is at the different undergraduate medicine courses interstate (non-vic).
So, If anyone has got into a undergaduate med course (or knows of any who has) interstate, would you mind posting your umat and atar score and what uni?

As a Victorian, UTas would like you to have 100%ile UMAT, and it's particularly hard to get into UWS too. JCU also has a preference for rural applicants from what I've heard.

From memory, Monash is the only uni that does NOT preference their own state (ie. Vics) ahead of everyone else (level playing field), so it's a tougher route to take if you want to go interstate.

They offer interstate interviews separately, so from that viewpoint, I'd say they're a little biased.

Not really. They offer interstate interviews with the regular pool, but schedule it for later.

That seems really stupid, I'd assume the vast majority of people who got 100%ile UMAT would also get into Monash or at least a QLD or NSW Med School ... who would actually end up going to UTas with that good a UMAT score :p.

I thought the cut-off for UTas was 98th percentile?

I'd expect many many many interstaters to be at UTas...

Apparently UQ MBBS has no Year 12 entry? Does it operate like UoM?

UQ's the easiest by far to get into

Its only because they only take like 5 people from interstate and entry to UTas is entirely based on UMAT, with a hurdle ATAR of 95, no interview.

Yep, OP1 or equiv, but they give bonus points (to the ATAR I think) based on LOTEs (2 points each) and Spesh (2 points) and uni subs (1 point) with a maximum of 5 bonus points in total So getting 95 ATAR and getting in is still possible if you've done the right subs.

Should be around the same given that Monash's will drop a little this year with no ATAR/UMAT interview stream. But most unis interstate give favour to their own state, so be weary of that.

So if you're doing two languages, you get 2/5 points?

Nah, 4/5 points So for example, if you get between 95-99.95 ATAR, it'll become 99 in their eyes (maxed at 99 - OP1)
