Rankings for single-exam subjects

How are SAC rankings worked out for subjects with only 1 end of year exam?

Are the unit 3 and 4 marks totalled and THEN compared to the exam?
Or do they remain seperate and each is compared to the exam and scaled accordingly?

Come to think of it, this makes sense. My Legal GAs were
GA1: B
GA2: A+
GA3: A
