What happens if I miss a day of my accelerated 3/4?

Hey everyone,
Just got told by my parents that they have booked a trip for July school holidays next year and with timing and everything, it means that I'd miss out on the first two days of term 3. I'm doing a 3/4 next year and was just wondering if I'd have to get a med cert or something like that if my 3/4 was timetabled in those two days? Please reply because I'm new to VCE and all and I don't know how things like this work!

Well, if you've booked a trip over those two days, getting a medical certificate is highly unethical, so don't do that :P

It's really no biggie if you haven't missed much until now :)

Unless your school has some extremely harsh policy about being away, you'll be fine as long as you notify your co-ordinator before hand (maybe give her a good month notice?)

Just ask your teacher what you'll be doing during those two days and do it before you leave. I believe you're allowed to miss 6 days before things get more serious, so don't stress and enjoy your break. :)

5.10.1 VCE attendance
All VCE units require 50 hours of class time. A student needs to attend sufficient class time to complete work. The school
sets minimum class time and attendance rules. Where a student has completed work but there has been a substantial breach
of attendance rules and the school therefore wishes to assign N to the unit, the school must assign N for one or more
outcomes and thus the unit.
A school policy and set of procedures to cover absence from assessment tasks should be published and made available to
staff, students and parents. When a student is absent from school for prolonged periods, or has been unable to complete all
assessment tasks because of illness or other special circumstances, the school may upon application from the student grant
Special Provision for school-based assessments. In this case, the student should not be penalised for lack of attendance.
The Special Provision granted may allow a student to work from home for a period of time. The student and school should
complete the Application for Special Provision for School-based Assessment and Unit Completion form and retain
this at the school together with the supporting evidence  V .

Probably be better if you don't miss those two days - that's just in my opinion anyway - don't get yourself into sticky situations if you don't have to

But in all honesty - as long as you don't have any SACs on those two days, you should be OK.

How is everyone making a big deal about this? It's 2 days, shouldn't impact in any way whatsoever

Yeah well I agree with it would be better but this trip is practically once in a lifetime for me, so it's outside of my control.

Woah you guys are intense. Don't stress the two days, just make sure you're ahead on the material before you leave. I've probably missed more than two days on intense sleep-ins lol.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

Hancock,
Surely your comment was sarcastic? Look at what everyone else has posted.

I don't understand the point of this thread. If you have a chance to go on a "once in a lifetime" trip, and considering not going because of 2 days of school, which is 8 hours of study (if that due to mucking around in class an such) it must not be a big trip. Sorry for sounding like a dick, but please go on your trip and study some other time. I went on an overseas performing trip with my school for a month in year 11 (I know it's different from year 12), but I could still make it up by doing some study before hand and during the trip. You can too. Don't miss out on this experience because of something that you can make up quite easily. My 2 cents.

The reason I started this thread is because I am new to VCE this year and was not sure about what happens with missing days of a 3/4 sequence. Also, at my school there is no mucking around, so it would be more than your supposed 8 hours. And lastly, I never said I wouldn't go. I was always going to go, I was asking the atar notes community the protocol for missing days of a 3/4 sequence.
