for how long is the atar valid?

my sister finished year 12 in 2011 and started going to uni this year (2012).

she finished sem 1 and because of some personal reasons my sister is thinking to take 1-2 years off and reapply for a different course at a different uni.

so what i was just wondering was, for how long is the ATAR score valid for?

and would my sister be able to apply for another uni using the same enter score?
