Discuss the distinctive lexical features of Australian English and the attitudes towards this language.

How do I plan this? This essay was given by our teacher and she wants us to write one feature per paragraph and one paragraph on attitudes. I'm OK with the attitudes but attempting VCAA essays, I've never come across one feature-one paragraph idea.... is my teacher teaching us the wrong way? Or is the essay question just weird?

How would you guys write this one?

Thanks :D

um not the best at eng lang, but this is how i would do it

the topic is on Australian english, which in itself is a broad topic. But this is good because it gives you heaps to talk about!

I'd have one para on ethnolects (e.g. singlish- use of respectful terms such as "auntie" or "uncle" for anyone older)

one para on aboriginal english (e.g. use of perhaps dysphemistic terms such as "deadly" meaning "great" or "cool" - in terms of attitudes: perhaps prejudiced views against this english reflects our negative social views)

one para on teenspeak (e.g. acronyms such as yolo or ceebs- attitudes could include that it is a continually changing up to date language formed through advancing technology)

but once again, i'm not the most gifted at eng lang, so best if you get this checked by someone else :)

hope i helped a little :)
