If you do the prereqs, you're not going to be the guy that knows nothing

Also this isn't undergrad, there are people doing the MD from all over, not just straight in

Oh! So wouldn't you say that somebody who goes in with an Anatomy or Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology...etc. (i.e. health science) major will have an advantage over somebody that goes in with, say, a Maths or Computer Science major?

ahk, thanks a lot for all the help guys :)

somye - it's because some times "depending on demand" chancellors can go down to 99.85, so if there was a slight possibility of doing commerce undergrad with possibly a 99.85 guarentee then i may get that but not sci or biomed guarentee
but it's seems that commerce chancellor's -> MD isn't the best option and it's unlikely that commerce will be 99.85 (sound reasonable to everyone? :S?)

So ATM my prefs are
1 - Monash med unbonded
2 - Chancellor's biomed
3 - Chancellor's science (on minute chance 99.85 will be guarantee)
but yeah, of course i need to get there first 1 :D

Yeah obviously some majors are better than others but if you did anatomy, physiology and biochem at a 2nd year standard then you've got a pretty good grasp of the basics. The "not knowing anything" isn't really a thing, it's more that everyone has a base of knowledge and some people have a lot more in certain areas. I did immuno so I cover the pathophysiology for my group when we do autoimmune conditions etc., the lawyer in our group always talked about the legal relevance of actions etc.

Are you considering bonded and interstate - both of which might be easier for you to get into?
Just something to think about if you're willing to travel

Ok, that makes sense! :D

Pretty sure he can't due to personal reasons (I wouldn't push this point).

99.85 chancellor scholarship won't happen for science/med/arts/commerce considering the demand for those courses and those places. The only course to my knowledge that offers a scholarship for 99.85 is commerce, being the copland scholarship, which only provides guaranteed entry for the JD

Apparently you can get a 99.80 and get a Copland Scholarship as well!

not for 2012, was true in 2011 and 10, but demand has increased, you pretty much need to get a 99.90+ to get a scholarship at melbourne now  :o

Doesnt have to sit the gamsat if her gets offered a chancellors place and passes the interview. If you really want to do med, I'd try to get into monash first before looking at the chancellors scholar option.

I think i read somewhere that you don't have to sit gamsat, anyway, monash med is still my first option, with chancellors second and either biomedicine or commerce at melbourne third ( not sure which one !)

For the Chancellors Scholars' courses, you don't have to sit the GAMSAT. Just need the average mark (70, I think) and pass the interview.
Aspiring doctor. Why? For the same four reasons as everybody else. Chicks, money, power and chicks.

No GAMSAT and no average mark requirement!

So you could completely f**** up Biomed or Science and still pass an interview to get a place in the MD course?

You have to pass everything and graduate. You can skate through if you want I guess.
